Vincent Jackson poised for bounce-back season by Jose Martinez    1h ago Vince_Zpsmsrqgkvm.pngIt feels weird saying Vincent Jackson and “bounce-back season” in the same sentence. After all, Jackson had 70 catches and over 1,000 receiving yards last season. It wasn’t a bad year. But, for a wideout who hasn’t gone under 1,100 yards since 2010, when he held out for the first 10 games of the season for a new contract, the 2014 campaign left a lot to be desired. With new offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter at the helm and a promising quarterback in Jameis Winston under center, Jackson will have that bounce-back year in the 2015.Even though head coach Lovie Smith has stressed the importance of having a balanced offense behind the much-improved Doug Martin, there will be opportunities for Koetter to tap into the four verticals offense he ran with the Atlanta Falcons. This is where the 10-year pro will reap the rewards. If you follow the Falcons’ passing offense under Koetter, it would be easy to assume that Mike Evans would be the one to slide into the Julio Jones role, being the more athletic and explosive receiver on the depth chart. However, Evans’ inability to get on the field with any regularity throughout the preseason resulted in Winston developing a rapport with Jackson which should extend into Week 1 and beyond. In his last preseason game against the Cleveland Browns, Jameis, who typically likes to spread the ball around to as many of his teammates as possible, consistently looked in Jackson’s direction. Before getting pulled from the game with a sprained ankle, Winston targeted V-Jax in four of his last six passes. If his last season at Florida State taught us anything, it was that when Jameis likes a receiver (see: Rashad Greene), he looks in their direction consistently. Almost to a fault.Winston appears to believe in Jackson and do you blame him? V-Jax is the veteran of the receiving corps, who tied Evans for lowest amount of drops (4) last season, even though he had the most targets on the team (142).Eventually, Evans and Winston will develop a solid rapport with one another, but until then, the former Florida State quarterback already knows what he has in the 32-year-old receiver. And it should lead to great things for V-Jax in 2015.link
