Well, to be fair, letting Baker keep baking AND a d-lineman getting double digit sacks - while the GOAT cap impact subsides - SHOULD get him a mega deal.
perspective.
just don’t see what JTS is going to be able to pull out that he hasn’t after 4 years.
This
definitely get the contract year positively impacting his effort but not sure he has the skill.
Hope he does
@jc5100 - I would love for you to be right, but I don’t see that from a guy that has lost his starting spot the last 2 years. He’s a rotational rusher at best.
@donkey_hunter - even with Evans it’s going to be tough. But coaching makes such a difference in football, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
I just don’t want to see us reach for another pass rusher in the draft when we have so many other needs. And a late first round MLB, Guard, or Corner could be a starter, unlike with an OLB.
I really like the Toledo and Missouri corners. Also like the Texas A&M MLB. Those guys could start day 1 for us.
Maybe we sign a lesser pass rusher such as Minnesota’s D. Hunter? Someone…
For sure it will be tough.
If Atlanta dials in their QB situation, and has another good draft, they'll be a tough divisional foe (and unlike us, one that's built for the long-haul).
Regarding our draft, I'm always a fan of moving back whenever possible. This year would be no different.
Move all the way back, or out of the 1st round completely. Target a CB (Rakestraw JR. or T.J. Tampa) or EDGE (Trice or Robinson) with the 1st pick.
I'm becoming more and more a fan of going LB in the 2nd (Trotter Jr. or Cooper).
Then look at iOL in the 3rd and 4th (Frazier is most likely gone in the 2nd, hence why I'd want to trade back and try and acquire picks). But, I think Day One starters like Beebe, Haynes, Van Pran, Zinter, Mahogany, and others with be there in that range.
@donkey_hunter - I like your thoughts on the draft. I would agree on most of those guys. I still think the lack of a bonafide outside pass rusher will hold us back next year. It is the only thing that can consistently slow down these McVay/Shanahan types of offenses.
Jonathan Greenard is our guy if he becomes available, good lockerroom guy in Houston and knows how to rush the passer
I wanna see more of our other pass rushers like Ramirez, Watts, might be another Yaya in the wings. If our D-ends are working this offseason I can see a breakout season in Diaby with double digit sacks.

Yeah. It’s a big problem.
Especially when we dial up blitzes and they don’t get home.

It's entirely possible he would have had 10+ sacks this season, if the decision-makers would have played him more. JTS started 12 games (5 sacks) and Diaby only started 7 (7.5 sacks) this season. Diaby played less than half of the team's defensive snaps.

Agreed with the PT.
Not sure Diaby will ever be a "premier" edge rusher, but he certainly seems to have a ceiling of a really good #2.
Would love to be wrong though on the "premier" statement.
How did the Bucs end up this season in terms of QB pressure say compared to the Super Bowl season? How about compared to last season?
No, because 10+ sack guys aren't easy to come by.@detrimental - that’s my point. If we had drafted Josh Allen instead of Devin White, and all other things stayed the same, would we let Josh Allen walk this offseason? I would hope not.

Marcus Jones was a first round pick who had 8 sacks in 4 years then was UNBLOCKABLE his contract year

At best that’s only partly true.
He was barely playing in his first 3 years and when he did play it was DT. They moved out to DE and he broke out the year before his contract year and I think he was extended when the Bucs were proactively extending guys. He got some long deal, like 8 years or something.
he went on to be The Darkness in a brief MMA career. I actually met him when he first got here. UNINTENTIONALLY sort of insulted him in front of a bunch of his new teammates lol. He laughed it off thankfully lmao. Good guy
@donkey_hunter - he could be our Greg Spires, maybe better though. But I loved Spires tough guy mode.
And I’d love to see Diaby at DE sometimes when we’re in our 3-4. Diaby, Vea, Kansey.
