zuttah has always been below average as a starting guard. his only chance at being an average starter over the course of a season is at center...seems people have amnesia when it comes to zuttah at guard, or the obvious his lack of strength and size for the position. that or people just like to rosterbate out of boredom during the offseason using "Madden rules" where you can just move a player to a similar position and his Madden rating improves lol
We need to throw money at mack and allen, then draft a qb.They can fill dj's spot with just about anyone and it's going to be an improvement.
I just don't think a lot of fans put enough stock or importance on the center position, and just how valuable it is to the overall performance of an offensive line. They don't call the center position anchor of the offensive line for no reason.

LMAO....Some fans make it sound like Zuttah sucks at guard but turns into an all-pro when he moves over to the center position. He's not very good at either position.
Zuttah is an average at best center and a below average guard. I am fine with making a run at Mack...but only if that means cutting Zuttah and using his money towards landing another OG or OT. I think we can live with Zuttah at center if we surround him with some good guards...but he will never be more than about average and is probably making too much for his quality of play anyway.
I know I am in the minority but I am okay with Zuttah at guard or OC. You can't have studs at every spot on the line but Zuttah is only 27 years old can play multiple positions on the line. He hasn't reached his ceiling yet IMO.There are reports that they cut Zuttah and Penn as well. However, Penn is more likely to go because he doesn't have any upside anymore or versatility.

AMEN!! To have a good O'line, a team MUST have a good C. Zuttah on a good day is average. I can't think of a good O'line anywhere that DIDN'T have a top-tier C as it's anchor.
Will the Bucs make a center the highest paid again? We went for Faine why not.

Yeah, purposely moving Zuttah to Guard is a bad idea. He's a good back-up OG, but that's about it.
I'd like to see Mack but at this point I'm just not sure he fits the Licht ideal of a value free agent.
Is this a bad time to mention that flipping Dotoson to the other side may not be such a good idea?
You can't let the whole Faine thing and other free agent busts scare you. Same goes for Nicks. For every bad signing...there's someone like Vincent Jackson. I'd rather roll the dice with a known Pro Bowler. If he turns out to not be as good as advertised...well that's our loss. I'd rather take the risk though than sit with what we have...cause we KNOW what we have sure didn't work.

Nicks was a case of bad luck, plain and simple. Nicks was a friggn' monster in the middle, and would make our O-line exceptional if healthy. I just don't like that we go months without hearing anything about his progress or lack thereof. I don't need to know what the guy is doing or how his toe feels every day, or every week. Once a month check in by a informed source would be nice though? Have we not signed a Guard other than Merideth because Nicks is getting better? Have we not signed a Guard because that is how it has just played out? I think the Nicks saga is one of extreme importance. If Nicks is coming back, then I can live with Zuttah. If he's not, I want Mack and move Zuttah to Guard. Mack at Center and Zuttah at Guard will help this O-line because Mack can control the middle by himself. When Zuttah needs help at Center, that's when the line blocking schemes breakdown. The HB's and FB's can help Zuttah. But when you create a huge hole up the middle because the Guard has to shift over to help Zuttah at Center, it never ends well.
Because of Nicks' contract. We're rolling with him if he can roll. I like Zuttah better at Center than Guard. I think the plan will be to find a guard in the draft and let Zuttah play center for another year.
Now go get Mack and put Smith at Guard.
Smith is the Bucs new center.
