To be fair, I'm not sure they will see a better iDL than Dexter Lawrence and Johnathan Allen the rest of the season. Those two are pretty damn good.
But they weren't picking up or passing off standard stunts, regardless of the opponent. That isn't good.
With a non-existent pass rush, Walker had ZERO pass rush snaps.

I just posted in the other thread that they dont seem to trust him to play the full defense (run, drop outs etc), so he doesnt get on the field even though they need pass rush.

Baker and the defensive lapses cost us this game. 34 was horrendous, guy blew so many assignments on the field it was astounding. I think we need to find the long-term replacement for David, like next year (early round pick investment); We need a backer with range and who can actually stay on his feet when playing on turf fields. Weird because I believe that surface is what he played in DET/NO but still kept falling slipping like he was stepping on a banana peel out there.
DL total non factor, big red flag there. Morrison, Zyon, and Parrish played good games I thought - even in the end that ball to Tee Higgins was excellent coverage.
Zac Robinson playing calling was good. Baker internal clock is bad, but that's always been a problem. Same with holding onto the football, he leads the NFL in fumbles since 2023.
So expect the Bucs to pull away from the Browns next week and then the fans, coaches and GM's will be happy they beat on an absolute shit of a Browns franchise. And pretend this stinker didn't happen. Its going to be an up and down season folks, prepare for the rollercoaster ride. If the defense can fix the mental mistakes it'll help the win total, as for now I still say 7-10/8-9 season and thats being fully healthy.

It was tough to watch but if you took away Baker trying too hard and that crushing the team early, the offense is actually moving the ball and running it well etc. Defense playing okay

Bowles should have been shit canned last year, nobody should deny that. If we start with that as a baseline, then let's begin:
No way is a game where the offense gave 17 points or let's call it at least 10 points to the opposing team gift wrapped while the defense put up 7 itself, should they blame the defense
so take those away and the score is 23-20 Bengals, hence, defense giving up league average to a premier offense while the offense failing to put up league average against what many believe is a below average defense

Thats a fair take, but I am not sure the part in bold will hold up over the season. I guess we will see. That belief would be based on last year and they certainly made some changes.
the Bucs lost this game because of the turnovers early and yes they did play better once they settled down, maybe eveb outplayed the Bengals. at a minimum pretty even.
