Bucs don’t need to sweep Panthers. We have tie breaker over them still. Wins over the Falcons and Dolphins with a Panthers split will win the division.

after today I think the team quits and they win maybe 1 or 2 games

This is why I have take the position that Bowles has been a good coach for the moment in time.  He deserves credit for making due with a transitioning defense and specifically for getting the team to stay together and finish down the stretch in 2022 to 2024.  BUT, if you give him that credit for 2022-2024 its only logical that he would bear the brunt of the b lame NOW for a team (and particularly a defense) that seems to have lost any confidence and desire.  Yesterday was the game to show both.

The only caveat I would give to that is the same as all the other years and that is a DIFFERENCE in the view of the team inside OBP as compared to on the Red Board.  On the Red Board, the Bucs 2025 were a SB contender and the Bucs  talked that way (they always do, really) BUT the actions are no really consistent with an ALL-IN 2025. I doubt anyone that the Bucs were ALL-IN when they signed Canales to be the OC because hed never called plays.  Same with Grizz.  I doubt most (especially in hindsight) would see playing LVD and trying out (essentially) SVD is consistent with an ALL-IN, win it all year. That's more like "see what we have in SVD while we are in transition."  You don't split time with Morisson and Dean, that i's more a developmental year.

So, it is possible that Bowles survives even a season that runs out poorly . . . IF the team is arguably performing to expectations INSIDE OBP.

If Reddick is out its entirely possible that we see a re-do of last years horrific Falcons game this Thursday. A defense picked to pieces, especially over the middle, because of an inability to get there with 4.  That REPEAT kind of performance could be a game changer to the comments ab ove.

Painful to say but watching the game live the LVD stood out for all the wrong reasons. Maye the replay will look different, but he stood out for (of all things) how slow he was.

Lots of things working against the Bucs yesterday, a rainy run game with no Wirfs and then no Bredeson and then a "star" rookie WR who has clearly hit a wall.  That reality stands out with the late drop (obviously), but also with plays like the pick where an inexperienced WR stops his route because of the inside leverage of the defender. Probably not throwing that pick if Evans is on the filed and Egbuka is #2 or #3.

Could be a season-defining loss, but Thursday looms

to me, Bowles is defensive expert and the defense has managed to get worse than a year ago.  That's not a good look

factor that in there's one of two ways this plays out

1 - we manage to not even win the division, the worst in football and one in which consistently 9 wins does it, embarrassing

2 - we manage to win the division with a shit 9 or 10 win performance and get steamrolled in the first round, ala the Dallas 2022 result; not even a competitive game.

i don't see how this plays out any other way and after yesterday, not sure how anyone could think an over the hill Mike Evans is going to change that result.  Sure, we may be better but this team ain't winning a playoff game.

so with that, especially 1, not sure how you don't move on from Todd Bowles, who was sort of thrust into the role after the "Arians retirement".  Bucs didn't even have a coaching search and should have moved on after the 2022 debauchery of a season.  2023 was their most successful non Brady season since the Superbowl so this was "fools gold" perhaps but last year was a disappointment with top 5 offense and this year looks to be shaping up as "no end of year hot streak" and even worse.

this is the opposite of progress.  you can make up a magical #3 scenario where they go on a run but i aint seeing it....and losing to a 2-10 team at home in a must win game....yeah throw that injury excuse out the window too.

Bowles comment at halftime was something along the lines of the weather making the game a good old fashion backyard football game so. . who wants it more?  That was the RIGHT question, but the answer seemed to be  . .  the Saints  . . and so you are right that "losing to a 2-10 team at home" could  be the beginning of the end.

Funny critique from SR

"Todd Bowles also attempted too many fourth down conversions near midfield, which just wound up giving the Saints too many short fields and New Orleans finally cashed in one in the fourth quarter to take a 24-17 lead after starting at the Tampa Bay 47.

Bowles should have played field position and used punter Riley Dixon, the league’s NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, more often. Dixon punted just once on Sunday, knocking a 31-yard punt down inside the 20-yard line."

If the Bucs convert those and win Bowles is applauded for his "aggressiveness."

there were some situations where you applaud him for going for it but he just has to be smarter...and he just doesn't have it.  It doesn't seem like he or Grizz fully grasp the flow of the game.

So he first went for it on 4th in the second drive of the first quarter in which we scored with ease on our first drive.  It's 4th and 1 on the Saints 45.  Absolutely makes sense to go for it there in a 7-7 game.  Grizz's borderline retarded -7 yard pitch play call was another story

Then in a 10-7 ball game, yes, go for it...it's 3rd and 1 on the Saints 49.  Yet again, we run it non stop and get no yards.

the final 4th down go at it was right before half where Bowles said "Double or nothing" on trying to hurt Mayfield with hail marry passes.  Example here as Bowles doesn't learn from mistakes.

so fast forward to 4th quarter and it's 17-17.  Bowles has been going for it on 4th with not much success (we were 2-7 overall yesterday) and it's 4th and 2 at the Saints 46.  Why not trust your defense a bit as it's late in the game.  You go for it, dont get it and the game is thus over.

He had muscle memory of going for it and going for it...but in that situation, where the offense is struggling, how do you not trust your defense to make a stop?

the same stop they made to get the ball back with 2 minutes left only for the Bucs to go 4 and out.

Bowles needs to be smarter and he just doesn't have it

it be one thing if his defense was playing like Houston's.  Look at that impressive performance over a desperate Mahomes. But the Bucs defense is ass and isn't being bailed out by a shitty offense like it was in 2024.

It's time for a change and only way this is salvaged if the Bucs somehow flip a switch, end up 11-6 and win a playoff game. Do you see that happening?

i've seen 2 good performances out of this team all year - the Seahawks game carried by offense and overall good game with the 49ers.

Our other wins?  Good defensive performances against ATL and HOU which took miracle comebacks by mediocre offense.  Good defensive performance against Saints, shit offense.  An almost embarrassing loss to the lowly Jets.  Barely squeaking out a win over the lowly Cardinals.

This team looks worse than 2024 without a doubt.  That is not progress.

We may end up worse than than 2023 team which won a playoff game and we are looking awfully similar to that 2022 squad...our worst in this playoff streak that is about to get snapped this year.

That is true.  Sweeping the Falcons is a must in that scenario but we will see Thursday night.

very simple

win three and we are 100% in

win next three and we can rest everyone last week

if panthers lose a game we can lose one as well

If we lose tomorrow night you can forget about playoffs

would need a miracle and sweep of carolina

a loss to a falcons team who quit spells 7-10 for the Bucs more so than 10-7

wonder if the otton doubtful designation is actually due to injury or because he plays like such a pussy on prime time with his INT plays
