Not opposed to it but are the raiders even interested? His grades aren't great
Why wouldn’t the Raiders be interested in a colossal bust/garbage player/waste of a roster spot?
I mean, they’ll probably demand he’s included.
I know this isn't directed at me but ftr I don't think he's a "bust". He's starting basically every game. I think he should have been graded later and since he doesn't have a true spot on the line (or as some call it, he's versatile) I'm a little perplexed why we thought he'd transition to center...
All that said I'm holding out hope year 3 clicks for him and we get some good ROI. Im not giving up on him yet... But he's not good enough to anchor the middle like you'd hope for a first round center.
yeah geodeke was pretty pedestrian to start this career as well but would agree that next year is make or break for Barton.
That and it would be crazy to use this season as sort of the judgment season on Barton because he was flanked by terrible, ever changing Guards and playing out of position some.
Besides, there is NO WAY the Bucs are trading their recently drafted C who went out and played T. Talk about team player.

yeah not having nfl caliber guards due to injury is tough
offensive line is important. Injuries did hurt us this year no doubt but id argue the last 4 and now tomorrows game were all games we should have won regardless so it's one thing to lose a game against the Rams or Bills due to injury, but to lose to these bottom feeder teams suggest something else at play as we've talked about at nauseum
and unfortunate for Grizzard but this is the big leagues and a second crack at it unfortunately is not something we should give

Some food for thought...Goedeke was pedestrian in large part because much like Barton he was playing out of his natural position to start his career. This was Barton's second season at Center since his freshman year of college. He spent what I would imagine was the majority of what would have been his first full offseason with the team (when players generally work on improving their technique) moving around the line to compensate for Wirfs later in the offseason surgery. Another thing that may or may not be the case is that not every player that comes out is able to play all over the line. Yes Licht has an affinity for drafting small school( not that Duke is small) LT and moving them to other positions due to their athleticism, not every player can be Ali Marpet. He tried that with Godeke with similar results, and much like Goedeke once he was back in his natural Tackle position he played really well. I would hope that in year 3 with a full offseason under his belt that Barton be much improved, especially after getting last years most improved player Mauch back next to him. Going back to JC's comment about Chukwuma having nothing..Dude was playing in his second career NFL game as an undrafted free agent..he didn't play as well as his first( which he held his own) but I also felt that Grizzard didn't really do him any favors with the game plan and extra chip blockers. I've seen far worse play out of First year OT that were high draft picks , than what that young man had. Much like Barton he needs time and teaching to develop.

You can't really put any credence those evals. He's as good at OL evaluations as he is at QB, WR, TE, RB, FB, DL, Edge, LB, CB, S, P, and PK.
I'll continue to challenge the narrative on here by a few on Barton. He's playing well. Both guys beside him suck. The only negative play I recall from last game was the penalty. It was a needless penalty, and he's got to learn not to do that. But his blocking? Very good. Anybody is free to give me a timestamp on him getting beaten at the line. I've challenged two of those pushing that narrative and have yet to see either of them step up to the plate.
