that was a misstep for sure. Given political climate/environment, you are talking about the spineless bunch that kicked Gruden out of the ROH (Biden) and then reinstated him shortly after (Trump) so there was no chance they were firing a black head coach who just made the playoffs 3 years in a row at that point.
the fact that they didn't fire him last year was truly a site to see.
that said, Bucs were 5-1 at one point last year and even 6-2 (although the signs were there in the Detroit/NO games). Think about the SEA/SF back to back games? That team was Superbowl-esque. Will we ever see that Baker again?

But the trend the last few years has been offensive oriented coaches. Koetter, then Arians and now we have Bowles??? Why they are sticking with Bowles so long is a mystery because the GM they also handed an extension too along with Bowles has picked two offensive oriented HCs in recent memory. If Licht is given another opportunity to pick a HC he is going to go with an offensive oriented OC to salvage all the money tied up on the OL, Baker and WR and RB groups.

three real strikes that took the "passion" out of me with this team and all within the last call it 15 months
Strike 1- a premature extension of Todd Bowles in the summary of 2025 after losing Coen. Appreciate they didn't have the courage to replace Bowles with Coen due to politics, but you extend the guy? the warning signs were there with losing streaks mid season and defense not being a strength of the team
Strike 2- After a 6-2 start, the Bucs finish the season 2-7. How the heck is Bowles not fired after this
Strike 3 - While much of the team was ass during that 2-7 collapse, Baker Mayfield was the key contributor as he led an offense that couldn't put up more than 20 points on any given Sunday. The Bucs go ahead and thank him for the 2023 and 2024 seasons and premature extend him right before the season. How's the extension looking now not even a fuckin month old?
I'll always root for the Bucs, but this team has nobody to blame for the lack of fans but themselves - Owners and GM.
