JJ wasn't a QB he was a thrower. His motion was bad, his accuracy stunk outloud, he couldn't read defenses....and his level of competition was a joke.  Nothing about him was NFL ready. There is almost nothing about him like Teddy. He's more like Stephen Morris in terms of being a raw price of clay you can hope you mold into something to exploit the physical tools.

Or he could be the the next Drew Brees.....which is a better comparison because other than skin color and size, he has zero in common with Josh Johnson.

As rookies before their respective drafts, what differences did you see between Josh Johnson THEN and Teddy Bridgewater NOW? Just curious...

Josh Johnson was always an athlete playing QB. He was a guy with great wheels that chewed up teams that were barely considered division one. He was very raw and all potential. Bridgewater hardly every runs. He is a polished pocket passer. His greatest attribute is how well he scans the field and throws the ball. As a draft prospect, Josh Johnson compares to Pat White. Bridgewater compares to Drew Brees. There really are no similarities imo.

His mental acumen comes into play every time I try to evaluate him. Looking over to the sidelines every other play leads me to believe he is a slow learner or can't think on the fly.Personally, I think he has the same risk/reward ratio of manziel, only that his issues will be different (mental, not physical).

I can see the Brees comparison with Bridgewater. They both don't have a plus deep ball(above average though) but are pretty much money everywhere else.

W......T.......F?  Are you talking about Josh or Teddy. slow is the last thing anyone would say about Bridgewater in fact his football IQ is a huge plus attribute for him.

I worry about him in a mental aspect too, just not in the same way. I think he is plenty smart. I just wonder if he has that type A personality with the confidence and maturity to step into an NFL locker room and take over as their leader. He comes off as timid. A bit of a "momma's boy". I could be totally wrong, but that is my only concern with Teddy. The size is a negative, but not enough to concern me.  I think he has all the physical ability and intelligence needed to be great. Just not sure if he is the guy that will grab Donald Penn by the face mask or chew out Mike Will when it's needed. To be an NFL QB you have to be a rare bread and that includes being very mentally tough.

An excellent and informative read....Seriously.  That article, if at all has any substance and truth to it, we should trade up to number 1 and pick Bridgewater at some significant cost.  No doubt in my mind.

I'm not saying he will be an elite top 5 QB like Brees.....I'm saying he has similar strengths and weaknesses, so if he ends up being great in the NFL he would be a Brees type guy.

I won't argue against the level of competition for JJ vs TB. Fine. Or their pocket presence. Or their mechanics. Cool.       But PHYSICALLY they are VERY similar; both listed at 6'3" 205. Angular, skinny, with good arms, but not elite arms. Drew Brees is stockier and more muscular  than either JJ or TB; 6'0" 210. Bress is a very diferent physical type.      And saying any QB who completed nearly 70% of his passes with his TD/INT ratio has ACCURACY issues is more than a little offbase...

Physically, they're size is similar, but Johnson was a better athlete. Bridgewater injured his knee his senior season of high school and hasn't really been a dual-threat QB since. He's not immobile, but he is not a runner who can pass a little like Johnson was coming out of college. He is a pocket passer who can run a little, and a damned polished one at that.
