Perhaps I'm hoping Bowles will become a little more of a "Head Coach" rather than a "Transitional Defensive Coordinator Stepping in Because Nobody Has a Better Idea and He Won't Piss Off The Veterans." That contract extension should be his cue that it's time for him to be Head Coach for a change, rather than just another one of Licht's employees. Does he have to be Andy Reid or Mike Tomlin? That'd be nice, but not gonna happen. But can he move a little more in that direction? He should and he could.
Relax. Just joshin ya.
It's up to Grizz, and Grizz alone,
We've been lucky to hire two straight rookie OCs and people think lets do it again! Now we hire one with even less experience. Canales was 44, Coen had play calling experience as a coordinator in college and the pros. Griz at 35 is the youngest playcalling OC in the league with no experience of being in charge in either college or pros. Wide receivers coach? Passing game coordinator?
The Bucs are pushing their luck to say the least with Griz. You say Griz makes the decisions. Perhaps you're right if history is any indication. But at some point some how some way Bowles not being that strong leader is going to come to roost. I don't know. Bowles is Bowles. Perhaps it's just wishful thinking that we can get a guy like Arians or Gruden or Dungy. A guy who takes charge.
