I really don't hear much talk about A.J. McCarron with all the buzz around Manziel and Bridgewater and Hundley and Bortles and such, but I really like McCarron. Every time I watch him play I feel really good about parts of his game like, like his smarts and his ball placement. What do you guys think about McCarron? Would you spend a third rounder on him if he's still on the board when the Bucs pick in round three?
Are the Bucs picking in round 3?
He's metrics supposedly duck across the board. Gotta have some physical talents that would make you better than other QBs.
Are the Bucs picking in round 3?
Hmmm. Maybe they're not. If so, ignore the third round pick projection and just let me know what you think about McCarron.
In general, I feel like if the Bucs can't get an elite QB prospect, they'd be better off going with a veteran backup for Glennon. I'm not sure another mid-round prospect really buys the team anything they don't already have.
I think McCarron played for a team with a ton of talent and a line that kept him out of trouble for most his career. From what I have read, when he gets pressured, his stats suffer a lot. He also isn't physically gifted like some of these other players. I am not saying no to him...but I wouldn't draft him in round 1 or 2. He's more of a 3rd or 4th round guy.
No thank you.Jimmy G!!!

I would if he dropped to the 3rd Round...OBD

It's ashamed that he had a meltdown in his last game. 3rd round is too high, tho'... even if they have/get one. I'd start my interest at 5th round.
What's the difference between mccaron and glennon in all honesty? Other then mccaron played at bama they're quite similar players I'd pass.
Even at #7 I'd take him over Bortles or Hundley or Mariota. Kid produced huge #s in school and won 2 national titles as a starter. He's accurate and has sufficient arm strength. Would've gotten a lot more credit playing for anyone else.If we take Watkins or Clowney in round 1, McCarron in round 2 would be solid.

Glennon has a better arm.

Watch AJ's highlight film. On most throws there is no one anywhere near him in the pocket. I'd take a guess to say he may be one of the least pressured passer in the NCAA. It put up some nice numbers but when watching him it feels like he gets a lot of help from his teammates. I know, imagine your team actually helping you?
Just think about it. McCarron has played on the best team in college football in the best conference and is on national TV every week. He's started a million games. He doesn't have a height issue. Scouts have had more time and opportunities to watch him than probably any other QB in the draft. There isn't a scout working for a NFL team that would give him a 1st round grade. How often is every single scout wrong about a QB when they have that much info on him?
