He wastes little cap space. He was a rookie. He played under bad coaching. He had one weapon. His offensive line didn't block for him. All of that changes this year. That alone justifies giving him a shot at competing for the starting gig this offseason. The better question: Why do the anti-Glennon people think its such a good idea to outright cut the kid?

The hyperbole by some of you Glennonites.  Show me one poster (other then Milton, and I think even Milton has said he'd keep him as a cheap backup?) who has suggested that Mike Glennon should be cut.  Some of you honestly seem to equate not wanting to hand him the job unopposed in 2014 to wanting him cut.

Here's your one.

Anyone named Mike on the Buc's is in the hot seat as well as DJ since he said he'd change his avatar and hasn't. All show and no go!

And FWIW I'm not a Glennnon fan, or Glennonite, as you put it. If you would've took some more time to read my comment before babbling on, you wouldn't have missed the part where I mentioned competing.....

Stick with Air Glennon one more season. Just bring in a vet to push him.

Dal - there is no doubt a qb who improved his reads, throws the ball to the open receivers vs forcing it, accuracy, and accelerates his decision making would be better from his prior performance.  Hell, throwing to open receivers will even improve his RAC output.  That would indeed be a wonderful off season of improvement. Now - what did you see in Glennon's performance that would make you think that was going to happen, or is this change to Tedford, or simply a second year in the NFL - bc I don't recall having seen such across the board changes... in anyone... but I am still thinking about it trying to recall such a turnaround...

It isn't a turnaround, it is called development. Go look at most QBs who played in year 1 and then look at year 2 and compare who they are in year 2 to their career averages.  It is awfully close, within the range of normal variation. I'm not sure what part of his games makes you not see him getting better at it. He wasn't incompetent at making the right reads. In most cases he blew the best but was throwing to the next best - and again most of that was passing up open guys like Underwood for throw it to VJax which might not always be the worst choice anyways. .  I don't see a lot of brain fart level decisions which say he can't read. I see a lot of second best throw type reads which says familiarity and confidence in the #2 and 3 type players.  RAC isn't really about him as much as scheme and personnel.  Our scheme last year didn't create a lot of RAc and the players we had certainly didn't.

It is what I didn't see - development/improvement - was absent.  He didn't get more comfortable, he didn't get more accurate, he didn't pick out open receivers, nor did he get more comfortable with the game, and what did I see that gave me the impression - the last 8 games should suffice.  BM - I hope this "Pretty simple - he is raw, young, intelligent, trainable and the game is not too big for him." is right.  But I haven't seen anything that indicates to me the bucs aren't still seeking a qb.  There is nothing in his game that doesn't leave me with the impression that a qb like Aaron Murray wouldn't be a better choice to see if is 'the' guy, let alone the guys at the top of the draft.

Glennon will be good if everything is perfect around him ie no injuries good coaching strong defense. Basically every player has to up their game around him for him to be good. Unfortunately very rarely do all these things happen. He's doesn't have that kind of talent to overcome these deficincies which are bound to come up. He's not a franchise guys hes a guy u can get by with but probably won't lead you to where we all want to go (super bowl).

That is a complete crock of sht right there.  He spent large parts of last season "being good", when everyone around him was being sht.

'doc - you be careful now- you Glennonista side is showing.  I hope the kid becomes the next Brady as well - but I haven't seen that indication that comes to you so easily.  And Delores - you going to set in with being a Glennonista or not?

If not wanting the 4th best QB in the draft at #7 makes me a Glennonista , then a Glennonista I am.

Nope, are you putting you nickel down that Glennon is the guy - and the bucs should stop looking.  No more shimmy - just that you think he is the guy - in your evaluation/opinion.

I don't anticipate us having the opportunity to draft anyone better than Mike Glennon.

You can always look again next year....but you can't make a franchise QB appear when he he is not really there . He's not . There is no Luck in this draft .Glennon is not that bad , improve around him and see what happens.

Can't say it? Can't say I think Glennon is the qb that will finally be the 'one' for the bucs?  If you can't then why would the bucs stop looking - and potentially wasting another year. For me I don't care about Glennon - I just want to finally have a franchise or close to franchise qb.  I just don't seen Glennon as that so I would keep shopping.  But I would be delighted if he did become such a talent that the bucs could stop shopping for a qb.  What is the downside - having two franchise qb?  Hell - trade one and collect a mint from another team in need?

So he was tied for 12th in air yards per attempt but dead last in yards after catch of those 46 QBs listed.  That is what I (and other Glennon supporters) mean by saying he needed some help.  That doesn't mean he needs an all-pro at every position, but average would be nice.Average % of total yards coming after the catch for all 46 QBs listed is 47.6%.  Glennon had 35.5% of his yards come after the catch.  To put him at league average you would have to increase his yac by 34%.  Doing so would put his total yards on the season to 2923.  Expanded to 16 games would be 3598 yards.Assuming the numbers on that linked site are correct giving Glennon recievers capable of league average yac over 16 games would have put him at 3598 yards.  Not bad for a rookie.
