A must-read on the dysfunction in Green Bay under Rodgers and McCarthy years.
With a QB of Rodgers calibre its impossible not to see the Packers as a disappointment. 9 seasons of Aaron Rodgers (including injuries) and they've been to 1 Super Bowl.
The article blasts both Rodgers and McCarthy (with some blame on a doddering Ted Thompson) for their roles in the failure. McCarthy comes across as a very bad coach (which many of us knew) and Rodgers as extremely passive-aggressive and a bad leader.
Reminds me of the Captain Class which argues that championship teams across all sports have a get-dirty captain who's not the star player but provides the real leadership and keeps things moving forward. There's a point made, that rings true, that when Green Bay lost a lot of veterans some of those guys were the behind the scenes leaders. Aaron Rodgers doesn't want to be that guy and you need it somewhere else.
Anyways, good read and worth being mindful of. Even with a star QB you can really mis-manage things.
