I have watched a few shows and heard a few sports outlets as well as (letting my hair down a little) watch how Madden (after Brady...lol Yes I have almost all the games) plays down to the Buc's. What gives that people don't give the respect to the Buccaneer Organization and why must they feel that they have to drive their respect down in the well of respect instead of just saying what a great job in the past 4 years that the organization has done and give the players their props. I find that getting Brady, working the defense as well as getting Baker Mayfield with the high power receivers and the former Head Coach for the team to do as well as they did in their conference was great. I believe this is year 5 (counting Brady's recruitment till now) and we have a new OC with hopefully bringing a good scheme of getting the RB's more involved to free up Evans, Godwin, and Culp.
Going back to the Madden gaming development they were horrendous on Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on Madden 24.
Sorry folks I had to add the gaming because I just feel the Buc's organization doesn't get the respect it deserves with the product that they have produce in the last 5 years. I'll take the hits now or opinions.
We love our Bucs. And we sometimes look past their weaknesses. The Bucs get the respect they deserve. They have to earn it. And with back to back 8 and 9 win seasons, many outside of our area look at the Bucs as an average team.
We like to look at schedules and predict W’s for easy wins, but in reality there are plenty of teams/fans that mark us off as a W for them. We’ve got to earn that respect.
Much of the perception I believe comes from playing in such a weak division the past 3 seasons. The past two regular seasons with only 8 and 9 wins. The blowout loss to the Cowboys at home in round 1 of the playoffs. Regular season losses to marginal and inferior teams.
The Bucs turned the corner a bit last season in the playoffs. A convincing win at home vs the fading Eagles. A competitive showing in Detroit vs a better team on the rise. I agree with the previous poster. Respect is earned. The Bucs need to turn another corner this coming season. They need to beat the teams they should beat, and they need some wins vs quality teams. That's how respect is earned. The opportunities to earn respect are before them vs Lions, Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs, 49ers, Cowboys. Win the games they should win, and 2 or 3 of these games vs last season's playoff teams, and the perception will change.
The Bucs are always going to have a respect deficit.
almost every year the Cowboys are covered like they are a contender. They haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1996. The Bucs have won 2 over the same timeframe.
Dak Prescott has something like a 2-6 playoff record. Mayfield is what, 2-2?
pretty sure Cowboys SB odds much better than Bucs
@bucsbits - I hate the cowboys. But if someone told me I had to put $5k of my own money on either the Bucs or Cowboys to win the superbowl this year… I’d have to put it on the Cowboys.
Bucs have accomplished more the last 25+ years than most teams and organizations can dream up.
Lets recap:
2 SB wins
7 Division titles
Imagine if the Bucs didn't have that drought in between. I think that is what causes people not to realize what the Bucs as an organization have accomplished.
Personally if they can keep winning that is all that matters. Another division title would make it that much sweeter IMO.
We’re agents of chaos, and the status quo doesn’t want their carefully crafted narrative to be rocked.
We’re supposedly from a weak division, with a bunch of average, middling talent with a a couple of studs. Nothing special, mostly we think more highly of ourselves than our record reveals.
We outperformed last year when were told we were only going to win between 2 to 6 games (max). We have a run QB that had TJ salvage his career and he only produced middling stats even if he did throw for 4000 yards, 34 TD’s & 12 INT’s… the Bucs only got into the playoffs with 9 wins…the last one by barely beating a bad Carolina team.
They were a middling team, with middling talent, a head coach who was taking questions about his job security just before going on a run at the end of the season…beating a Philly team that especially collapsed 6 games before the end of the season and only played Detroit close by a couple of miracle plays before succumbing to their superior talent.
All of that is true, we Buc fans may think we found a QB that can juice this offense, we think we re-signed all the critical pieces necessary to force open that ‘window’ a few more inches/years….that we added just enough pieces last draft, and a few more this draft…that maybe we can shake things up a bit more. Heck, we proved it by outperforming expectations last season when we made it to round 2 of the playoffs and gave Detroit more than they bargained in that Divisional Playoff game.
That’s hope. Until a volatile team shakes off the reputation of a couple of great runs and Super Bowl wins every 10 to 20 years…that’s who the media think we are.
Embrace the suck, it will make it more fun should we tweak the noses of the league’s privileged children. We irritate them when we win more than their experts predict. I’ll love it if this team slaughters some more sacred cows this season…but until we do, we’re just going to have to grin and bear it.
Smile and embrace the suck.
Because we lose games we should win, and have letdowns vs the saints/falcons. We falter in primtetime because of hype instead of focus. Though these recents team has a completely different feel than previous Bucs team I've seen. Arians really did change the culture and help showed Licht the way to continue our success.
To really capture that respect we need to do it one more time and stomp out Atlanta and New orleans to another division title. Have Media outlets say "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me."

Precisely. The Cowboys are better favored because they are the better team. They were 12-5 (compared to 9-8) in a better division. They had the #1 scoring offense (compared to 20th scoring offense for Tampa) and #5 scoring defense (compared to 7th scoring defense for Tampa) in the NFL. Only a buffoon would not expect Dallas to have better Superbowl odds than Tampa.
The team was 9-8 last season, barely beating some really bad teams and losing to some bad teams - while also beating a couple teams they probably shouldn't have. They are getting the proper amount of respect.
Because the NFL is a business and they are choosy with who they market and highlight. They had to do it when we got Brady and it pained them. I partially always thought that was a reason he chose tampa as well as having a great team he could help out at the same time. And you are right they still did a great job after he left and still pissed on the bucs. Its the same reason why a lot of things we "like" are not highlighted. It's not profitable or it doesn't serve the agenda being promoted to become profitable. All businesses need the consumer to come back. We just don't go about it the way we probably should and maybe haven't learned the "right" way of going about things because we're not quite smart enough and prioritize greed over everything else. My breakdown I guess.
I’d only argue the point about the NFCE being a better division… they aren’t.@bucsbits - I hate the cowboys. But if someone told me I had to put $5k of my own money on either the Bucs or Cowboys to win the superbowl this year… I’d have to put it on the Cowboys.

Everything else is a fact until we prove otherwise.
Embrace the suck.

NFCE: 33-35
NFCS: 27-41
Seems like they were the better division. For the record, both of the NFCW & NFCN were better than both the East & South at 35-33. By a pretty wide margin, the NFCS had the worst record in the conference. That is also a fact.

They were favored over the Bucs to win the SB last preseason too, right?
oh wait… buffoon-science says Dallas had a MORE successful season last year than the Bucs, right? Winning percentage, right?
Because the NFL is a business and they are choosy with who they market and highlight.
Sort of the point
Bucs start at a respect deficit because they are small market, less history etc. The Cowboys are almost always more hyped even though their record over the discussed period doesn’t really support it.
the brand though. They are Americas Team. The Bucs were the Yucks

Yes that's why I said it's a business. That was the point of what I was trying to say.
