Yesterday was an amazing game, but everyone overreacts. Jax awaits and then, if the Bucs were to get into the playoffs someone like the Cowboys or Eagles, I guess?
3 year 75 milllion , and he deserves it
i would still draft a QB
Crazy what a great game would do. I always thought Baker was going to be back as long as Bowles and Dave Canales are around. It seems like Bowles has avoided the hot seat after getting the team back to 7-7 and on pace to win the NFC South. I don't think Mayfield is the long term answer but I'd still bring him back on a team friendly deal. Bucs should still draft a qb though.
Baker is going to sign for something like 3 years, $80M. It will be a bad contract.
IIRC there was a lot of grief given to Badabing when he suggested mayfield may be playing himself into a one year $25 million deal
He's likely not signing another 1 year deal. And this was why most of us wanted to see Trask do this and not Mayfield.

one year deal not the point, it was the value AND I call BS on the last part (bold)
The season can still end poorly with both Mayfield and Bowles kicked to the curb, but is there any Bucs contract for Mayfield that the Trask contingent would find acceptable? What would be a reasonable "bridge" contract?
anyone still thinking Trask has a future with this team has low football acumen
Bucs can lose out and could still see change but Trask's ceiling is being our #2 with most likely relegated to #3 if Bucs draft a guy.
You already wasted a 2nd round pick on Trask and have him as your back-up
Why the F would you draft another QB when you have holes in the OL and at DB~?
I've seen this nonsensical posing on browns boards....he took a 1-31 team to the playoffs and won a game for the browns for first time in over 30 yrs... then treated him like dirt
What I see here is people buying into the narrative that he's avg at best when right now he's following the GOAT and putting up numbers while on his 8th HC and 8th OC in 6 years thru no fault of his own and if you think he can't take a team to the SB you're a naive twit
Pay Evans whatever he wants... he deserves the Larry Fitzgerald treatment ala the Cards
Get another RB...preferably a beast
This team can win and the whiners will always whine while their opinions get lost in the wind
keep baker if we can't get better one, otherwise "big thanks for everything"

You don't think his career stats have something to do with it?
Mayfield had a perfect QB rating yesterday. Kudos to him for leading the team to victory in an important game with serious playoff implications. Well done Baker! However, the game was an exception, not the rule. Let's judge Mayfield on the whole body of work during the 2023 season. And let's wait until the season is over.
I think the Bucs may pay in that $20 mil range per year for two or three years but the key will be the guaranteed money. The Bucs will want to have the option to cut Baker loose after a year if things go South or if they draft a QB in say Round 2 and they want him to develop. Baker of course will want more guaranteed money. So they'll have to work something out. But Baker has a huge incentive to stay here rather than shop around. He's already been on the deluxe tour of the NFL and here he seems to have found a system where he can succeed.Baker is going to sign for something like 3 years, $80M. It will be a bad contract.

If Im Baker I wanna go the Kirk Cousins route play it out and continue to get paid, you found a good spot where a coaching staff, front office, owners and 80% of the city of Tampa believe in you, dont go chasing money and continue to play 158.3 passser rating football and the money will come. All those factors are almost impossible to find for Baker at this point, he needs us more than we need him. Qbs can play up til 35-40 this day and age, hes 28 sign a 2 year 1 guaranteed year then get a bigger contract at 30.
irrational exuberance?
"Mike Florio was on PFT Live yesterday making a case for Baker Mayfield as the 2023 league MVP. Florio has not lost his mind; he wasn’t selling Mayfield as the favorite for the award. But Florio argued that Mayfield is probably in his top-5 now and certainly will be if he can close the season strong and set the Bucs up with another division title."
