I see no reason for St. Louis to take anything less than what they received from Washington.

The problem with this theory (and everyone else saying it'll take a lot)Washington has this guy, he's the owner, named Dan Snyder. He does a lot of stupid things. Like paying more than he should for football stuff. Also, the Bucs traded from 5 down to 7. What did they get for 2 spots? A 4th round pick. The OP asked what would be fair for moving up 5 spots (by my calculations, that is 3 more spots than 2) What would be fair to do that? The 4th round pick and a future 3rd.

The bar has already been set however. St. Louis had no reason to move in 2012 but were persuaded to and they have no reason to move in 2014. A team is going to have to WOW them for them to move down. You're delusional if you believe a 4th and a future 3rd is "fair". No chance they even consider that.

doesn't make sense for them to stay at 2 if they are not drafting a qb.  they'll take the best deal they can get.  don't see any team offering them 3 1sts this time around.

nothing wrong with a calculated risk, that's how wall street works ( or used to ). however ,  the move your talking about would cost us too much. now , if you can look into your crystal ball and assure all of us that qb WILL BE that franchise qb we all want I'm all for it. also , I hear a lot of talk about staying there and taking manziel or whatever qb is still there. this doesn't make sense either. why take the 3rd or 4th best qb at #7 when we can get the #1 or #2 DE,OL,WR or LB. just sayin'.

Because in 2006 the #3 QB was Jay Cutler and he's better than Kamerion Wimbley , Winston Justice, Santonio Holmes and Ernie Sims.A great QB will keep us in playoff contention. Other guys are good pieces though.

I don't give a shit about the pick #.  I'm not giving up future drafts for any of these prospects.  I don't think there is any way to get to #2 without a future 1.  So I'm not going to 2.  The question for me is what would  our 1, 2, and 4 get us?  I still wouldn't give that up for anyone in this draft.

This. If you aren't taking A QB, you can aquire picks and still land your guy. Someone other than the Rams are picking #2. Also for those talking about the #3 QB vs the #1 LT, DE, or any other position: I'm sure you have heard that it's a QB driven leave now....no one says that about any other position for a reason. A QB is at least twice as valuable as any other position. Thats why people reach for them. A good QB will have a better effect on your wins and losses than a great LT. (See Browns)

Free seems fair to me . They should just swap with us straight up because we need it more.

Why not? They could grab a great player at #2 and still grab ANOTHER great player at #13. I think people are forgetting that they have 2 top 15 picks. It's not like they are hurting for picks. If I'm them I'd take either Matthews or Watkins or Clowney at 2 and still grab another good player at #13...Evans or Lee or Lewan etc....The Rams have all the leverage here. They have a valued pick with no reason to trade it away. Some team will have to convince them to trade it away.

Draft picks are always overvalued by fans. If you feel like player A is worth the picks, go for it. Especially if player A is going to be the face of the franchise and dictate the W/L every Sunday. You gotta take risks at some point. Your not just going to get a QB by just one falling into your lap, it doesn't work like that and you buffoons wonder why we haven't had a QB stability since Doug Williams. Its only a problem when you trade away future picks, consistently. This team has plenty of young talent at key positions so I'm with the idea of trading up for a QB, mainly Bridgewater.

tell washington that. they got fleeced and then compounded the error by giving the Rams the #2 overall pickthat situation alone is why im absolutely not in favor of making trades like this.

even though they did give up way too much, they are poised for a quicker revovery because they have a tremendoulsy talented QB. for the right QB I'd be willing to move up 5 spots (Bridgewater) at the end of the day its a QB driven league and its very hard to find one outside of a high first round pick.

I think Cousins has potential, but calling him "tremendously talented" is a bit of a stretch...

Who would they pick with that #2 pick anyway? They have a good offensive line, a running back, and most importantly a good QB. I guess they could go with Watkins but good WR's can be found just about anywhere early though. They don't need Matthews or even Clowney b/c they have Orakpo and Kerrigan. Redskins aren't really missing much anyway. The reason why they are picking so high is because their coaches are awful not b/c of the talent.

Orakpo is a free agent. Regardless, you seem to be saying that Snyder didn't screw up that bad because there isn't a player at #2 that they really need which is insane. If you're not getting better you're getting worse. If RG3 doesn't recover from this last season, they're in big trouble. He needs to go back to lighting up the league for them to be competitive. If Griffin doesn't turn back into an All-Star that trade could easily go down as one of the worst in decades.
