Of the following scenarios, which is more likely to occur:
All three, Tez, Watson, and Shilo make the 53 man roster
None of them will make the final roster
Or a combination, some do, some don’t
Oddly, I think Watson and Shilo make the team but I don’t think Tez does. I just think he’s too slow and too small for this league.
mayb ethe easy answer is "a combination."
Interested to see Tez. He is not fast and he is small frame, really small, but the highlights make him loo really shifty, high play speed. Boom/Bust type. He may very well be too small, too slow, as you say
Slow straight line speed doesn't matter much as a return specialist as short area quickness is what Tez can do. Palmer and K. Johnson are return specialists too but they have to catch the football with limited opportunities as specialists in certain packages. Tez is the superior WR of the three for sure.
Watson might make it if he loses enough weight and his conditioning improves because the Bucs depth with big bodied DT is basically non existent.
Shilo has a lot of competition.
Presuming Smith and Winfield Jr are the starting combo then you have Izien and Merriweather. Right off the bat that is your top four safeties. Throw in Hayes, Banks and Wisdom it is a crowded safety room already. And the team likes UDFA rookies Roberts with Shilo. Shilo's only shot to stick to the roster is if he continues to display superior communication skills from the rest of the DBs while showing up to play.
It’s fun to think about Watson being in the middle to stop a tush push play, but realistically he doesn’t have the feet and his pad level is too high. The Eagles would be happy to have him sitting in front of them.
Shilo has a chance because of his name. But he was a liability in college, so he’ll be a huge liability in the NFL.
i like Tez as a changeup. We don’t have a guy like him on the receivers corps.
They all have a strong chance to make the practice squad but I don't think Watson has a chance to make the 53 man roster because he offers zero for special teams.
Tez and Shilo have a shot
Tez makes it.
Shilo maybe.
Watson not so sure.

Pad level can be taught but he has a knack for having active hands at the LoS. Watson isn't your typical interior DL because he is about an inch taller than Vea. Bucs do not have a unique skill set like him on the squad due to his sheer size to be able to rotate with Vea or plug next to him.
Palmer's niche is a deep threat boundary WR and deep threat go route runner up the seem. Teams often keep around these type of receivers even if their hands are iffy like Gruden kept around Dudley so Dilger could do his work underneath. Or, Arians kept around Perriman and Miller around as deep threat decoys.
But the thing with Palmer's unique niche is that the Bucs have brought in better talent that can replace his niche in the last two drafts. McMillan showed he can attack the right boundary downfield. Culp, Egbuka and Tez have the ability to attack the seems downfield. So Palmer has more competition for his unique skill set compared to Watson.
Shilo has to outshine some fine safety prospects on this squad as the safety room is one that Bowles always makes sure that he stacks at least 5-6 good safeties on his final roster.
@alldaway - as a coach, I just don’t see it with Watson. You can teach pad level, but that doesn’t mean it always translate on the field. He’s so big and isn’t very flexible. And he’s so slow. Teams could almost trap him without touching him on certain plays. He is an undrafted player that the Bucs are hoping makes a miracle.
Watson doesn't have the athletics. It's very obvious. Honestly not sure why they even signed him other than he is a mammoth of a man. The problem is that he is trimming down what makes him the prospect he is, his weight. Assuming he does continue to drop his weight, where do they have him stop? Think he is a definite miss.
I think it will be the opposite. Watson and Shilo both have a long way to go. I don't see any way they'll be ready to contribute to start the season. JJ Roberts is the safety the Bucs had with a draftable grade. Sanders is getting the attention because of his last name. They're bound for the practice squad. If Tez can lock down the punt return duties then he can be used as a gadget player on offense for about 1 or 2 catches a game if that. Put him out there when you think their DBs are getting a little worn down later in the game. He'll be a hard guy to keep track of.Of the following scenarios, which is more likely to occur:

It does appear that the coaching staff likes what they see out of Sanders. He’s a natural leader with a penchant for influencing others. If he has any knack at all for the NFL secondary he will have a spot here in Tampa. Lots of accolades coming out of OBP regarding him. Long term flier on Watson, he’s staying. Not sure about Tez. He’s really going to have to show something to be employed at all in the league.
I think all 3 make the roster
A lot is going to have to go wrong for two undrafted players and a 7th rounder to make the 53.

Bingo
Sure there were a couple of nice comments, and those comments probably came because they were asked about him. How many questions did the coaches receive about JJ Roberts? Sanders got the attention because of his family ties. I'm sure he performed well enough and will be around during training camp, but if you think he'll be on the 53 man roster then you are just falling for the media hype.It does appear that the coaching staff likes what they see out of Sanders.
