Manchack, Whisenhunt, Caldwell, Fewell, Bisaccia, McDaniels, etc... Lovie was the best proven guy out there.Glazers learned from last time. You can't screw around for 3 weeks.

I think the glazers moved too fast on this one.I like the hiring, the experience he brings, as well as the hometown feel.However, idk how much they REALLY looked for other coaches, but I would've liked them to have done a better search. But I suppose they got their guy, and that's also respectable.I wanted them to stay away from defensive coaches, but if you're going to sign one..why not lovie, right?
Lovie makes sense on many levels. From a PR standpoint, he is gold.From a scheme standpoint, he is clearly defensecentric, so he has to make a tweak to the d-line and he is ready to roll.He brings respectability back to the team instantly.Great hire. Chicago wanted more "offense" they got just that this year scored the 2nd most points in the league and went 8-8 missed winning the division. This Years Bears scored 70 more points than Lovie's Bears and get this gave up 201 points more on defense. Careful what you wish for.We had a quality HC fall into our lap and our fans are so beat down after the past 5 years some can't even enjoy it...tragic!

Lovie said on his NFLN chat he intentionally took 2013 off to sit back and evaluate himself, study other teams, talked to a bunch of top players and coaches, AND formulate ideas for his next staff. I'm sure his D is in good shape, but Tedford we don't really know about at an NFL level. He sounds very promising, and we'll see if Lovie gives him free rein and a good draft. We all know there are serious holes on O that need to be filled. I suspect FA will take care of filling out the D...
