I don't know about the return to respectability (because I don't know if Lovie is really regarded as being that successful of a HC), but really well said and I respect your judgement.
Fairly or unfairly, Coach Schiano's rep is crap around the league. Lovie has tons of respect. If he's the guy, not saying he is as yet, but he'll boost this team's respectability right out of the gate.
Exactly. Lovie will take our defense and crank it up into a respectable top 5 D in no time flat plus no more players flaking out. Trust me, if he hires a Chud or someone respectable as OC and hopefully Rob Marinelli to work with him as DC, it would be a panicked rush to get tickets again.
glad to have you posting again!

And, depending on the front office plans, he'll make the team much more attractive for free agents, especially pass rushers ("Hello There Mr. Allen or Mr. Hardy or Mr. Johnson"). That'll free up the first pick for a QB or OL. Or another pass rusher. Those guys are fun to have.
Do we think that overpaying for Jared Allen fixes this pass rush?
I just want to make it clear that I know, for a fact, this wasn't a snap decision. For those who believe this was a knee-jerk reaction to the final record, it wasn't. They've been working on a strategy for weeks, which is comforting.

Just running a pro scheme is going to go a long way towards fixing the pass rush.
touche, salesman
with lots of stunts, right???!?!?!

IMO, you can't overpay for Jared Allen. Back the Brinks truck up to his front door and get him here. That one signing would completely elevate the entire defense and takes a ton of pressure off the secondary. You could then go 100% Offense in the draft. The only thing you'd maybe consider taking in the draft on D would be corner or O-line help in the later rounds.

Which may mean, more than likely, the HC and GM candidates are currently unemployed.

You can overpay anyone. With Allen though it doesn't mean quite as much because it wont be a very long deal. If we could somehow get Allen and Hardy in here after hiring Lovie I would be ecstatic for next year. That is probably just a fantasy though.

DTG, when you say they've had a plan, would this assume for more than just the HC...ie. OC / DC Or do you believe the Glazers would allow the new HC / GM to select the coordinators?
The Glazers are not selecting any position coaches as far as I know. All I know is that for a number of weeks they've been prepared to make this move, and that includes having a pretty good idea of what they intend to do at GM/HC. I don't know what that is, but I do know that they've been preparing for this eventuality. They're not at all happy about the performance on the field.

Thanks DTG, your info is always appreciated

Thanks for the scoop.
