The NFC Division Round matchup possibilities are as follows:
-
No. 6 Rams at No. 4 Buccaneers (if Packers beat Cowboys, Rams beat Lions, Buccaneers beat Eagles)
-
No. 4 Buccaneers at No. 3 Lions (if Packers beat Cowboys, Lions beat Rams, Buccaneers beat Eagles)
-
No. 4 Buccaneers at No. 2 Cowboys (if Cowboys beat Packers, Rams beat Lions, Buccaneers beat Eagles
-
No. 4 Buccaneers at No. 1 49ers (if Cowboys beat Packers, Lions beat Rams, Buccaneers beat Eagles)
If the Bucs take care of business tomorrow, they could still get another home game with a couple upsets! But that would take 3 upsets out of 3 going by the Vegas odds. More reasonable to hope for is to go to Detroit or Dallas. I'd actually take Dallas because Detroit team and fans are going to be extra pumped because this isn't something they get to do very often. Dallas would be very tough of course, but they've been known to lose playoff games before.
Going to the 49ers would be like sending a beginning skiier down the expert hill (I've had a personal experience with that. It wasn't a good one.) 1 it's a short week because of MNF. 2 coast to coast travel. 3 SF has rested their stars Week 18 and the Bucs didn't. 4 SF had the bye. So McCaffrey and Deebo are going to have fresh legs while the Bucs would be nursing their bumps and bruises. Good luck!
So the Bucs need to take care of business, but that's tomorrow. Today we need an upset! Lets go Packers and Rams!
In short, packers and rams
@SF - 0.0% chance of winning
@Dallas - 14.8% chance of winning
@detroit - 47.9% chance of winning
Vs Rams - 50.2% chance of winning
so depends how the first game goes
if cowboys win, root like hell for Rams; this would mean playing Dallas instead of SF
if packers win, id still suggest root for rams to have a home playoff game but either way Detroit or rams are much more palatable games
Part one is well underway. GB 27 - Dal 7 10:40 Q3.
47.9% vs the lions seems generous
especially with how we played them earlier in the year
i say about 30%
It's the second round of the playoffs, so whoever you meet will be dangerous. But I think the Bucs have a reasonable chance against the Lions should they manage to beat the Eagles first. The Lions are a young team who has achieved their goal of winning their first playoff game in 32 years. It's possible the Lions would let their foot off the gas just a bit and look ahead toward the probable Niners matchup. It's all hypothetical of course when we are talking about a Bucs team who couldn't beat the Saints and barely scraped by the Panthers. But at least they don't have the brick wall of the Niners matchup in front of them.
