If people think Watkins is a slot wr they are crazy, the kid is a flat out play maker who can take over a game, being an Ohio State fan and even though are secondary was trash this year, watching him dominate us was incredible, making catches that were just game changing, we have a young qb and if you want to give him the chance to be good than how is adding Watkins not a good idea? You also have Vjax who is 31 and in the next few years will not be that number 1 WR and Mike WIlliams who obviously has off the field problems, if he is there I would love for him to be the pick.
With Mike Williams making an attempt to win Jackazz of the Year, Watkins suddenly doesn't look like a bad idea....
Love Watkins. Gimme Allen and Mack in free agency, then Watkins and a stud TE.
Watkins is not a slot receiver to any exclusion. The thought that you don't draft a guy because the other half of the pass isn't very good defies logic. The entire thought process of the nitwit writer makes no sense.
I'd be fine with Watkins or OL with our first pick. I think our biggest needs right now are in the trenches on the offense and I'd rather the new regime start there.
Why drafting Sammy Watkins would not be a mistake : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkNvLP-WI5g
What a stupid fucking article"The Bucs should not draft Watkins because they have Mwilliams and Vjax.""He isnt a guaranteed star" Who is?
I wouldn't draft him because he is a slot WR. Not the kind of player you want with the no.7 overall pick. He may end up being a good NFL WR but to be drafted no.7 he is a bit small as well. The reasoning that they use in the article is off. They said Glennon can't use 3 great receivers and that is why you should not draft him. As if we are going to build the offense around Mike Glennon? ??? Get real. You build it based on the assumption that you are going to have a good QB. Whether Glennon is that guy remains to be seen.
Tell me you did not just call Sammy Watkins small TELL ME YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT.... If you truly believe that then idk what to think but 6'1 is not small.....
If he's there at #7, take him. Don't want to trade up for him though.
Leo continues to cement his rep as an idiot. While I agree with the premise -- to a certain extent at least -- the "reasons" he gives are just flat out stupid.
Sweet Geebus, that's some gawd-awful analysis.
My favorite part is in the beginning. Saying Glennon isn't good enough to handle a dynamic playmaker like Watkins in addition to V-Jax and a returning Mike Williams.....WTF??!!
1- The writer states that Watkins' speed could be negated by a well placed safety- that is a fancy way of saying to double cover him. If we have Vjax, Williams, and Watkins all on the field at the same time somebody will get open.2- No prosepect is a sure thing.3- So Glennon being told to force the ball to VJax because we had no other options means he can't make use of more recievers? I disagree- he made some nice plays to Wright and Underwood when he got more comfortable with them despite both being street FAs. 4- Saying that a slot WR and KR isn't worth a top 10 pick is shortsighted. He would start off with that title sure, but he would work his way up and be the primary backup to the 1 and 2.I would prefer going oline at 7 (assuming Clowney will be gone), but I would be ok with Watkins too.
I'd take Watkins at 7
Watkins isn't an early first rounder. Hopkins is better than Watkins and he was picked very late in the first.
