It's simple really.If they were 100% sure they were going to indeed use the first pick in the draft on a player they were sure of - they would have no reason not to say.smokescreen??? why bother. they have the first pick. no one could steal the guy they want. they could yell it from the roof tops and there would be nothing anyone could do to stop them from getting their guy.if the first pick is still in play - you continue to play. If it is truly not in play - why bother?...just that simple.
