...because I am willing to guess neither guy gets a $16m per year deal. I'm also willing to bet that I'd rather have 3 of the CB's from last years FA class instead of Revis and the two little pigs which is what his salary guarantees us. I'd rather get rid of a contract that is unsustainable (and he is way WAY over market value for his peers) now while we don't NEED to get rid of it than wait until it becomes a problem.Plus, go take a gander at the top 10 pass defenses and tell me other than Richard Sherman all the elite CB's on those defenses. What he does isn't a precondition to play good pass defense
1. Three technique and Will Linebacker are the two most important positions in our defense.2. Both of them combined don't make $16M/yr.3. They are both much younger than Revis.
Unless the return is high, it makes no sense.
can you can find a reasonable poster who has mentioned low returns?
According to La Canfora, that's the level of interest. There are a few GMs who think they can pry Revis away on the cheap....like a late round pick.
Only in Tampa would a team with plenty of cap room want to cut one of their probowlers in order to ...create more cap room.Lol , freaking idiots.

But...but....he doesn't fit the scheme Lovie used to run, despite what he says today. And...and...you just shouldnt pay a player $16M a year unless its a QB. Also RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE...
I keep hearing the argument that we are paying Revis "QB Money". Who gives a crap. We're not paying a QB "QB Money", and won't have to for a few years. We still have enough money to sign a few players this year, and alos resign GMC. Until we need that 16 million, you keep Revis. By that time, Revis' contract will be up. Not to mention, we can cut him at anytime if we absolutely need to.
The board has gone mad!Only player I would trade on defense that has some value is Goldson!

This would be the common sense side of the argument most of us subscribe to. And then there's the "others"

Agreed
Lol, I love these satirical threads. I think we'll see plenty more before draft day. We all see all these shiny new toys and we're ready to throw away the old dependable, but that's when we come to find out all those shiny new toys are really just cheap plastic. Looked good in the box anyway.

Dolorous speaks the truth again. /thread.You guys act like you're personally paying these players with your own bank account. I don't care if they pay him $18 a year until we are against the cap and it prohibits us from signing other players.
