For me, it has little to do with his salary. Wanting to bounce him just because he makes $16million is absurd. A lot of the trade talk though has been fueled by the amount of compensation that would/could be received in such a trade and his actual value to the team. McCoy and David are a bit more valuable IMO than Revis. I know it's nice to have a big time name and a top 3 player at a certain position, but the dude is not a "must have". So if given good compensation and the trade were done before FA, then the Bucs could get a decent FA CB quite possibly have 4 premium picks in the first 3 rounds in a very deep draft. This would not come without risk, but building through the draft is the best way to build a championship team. That's the goal.

I haven't read this whole thread, but the bottom line is David is 24 years old, McCoy is 26, and Revis is 28 and will be 29 before the next season starts. Lovie Smith didn't get hired to just win in 2014. He got hired to win for the next 5+ years. We all know even the best NFL players decline once they hit 30-31 years of age. If Lovie and Licht think they'll have a better chnace of winning in 2016, 2017, 2018, and beyond by trading Revis, then it's a realistic discussion. Barring major injury, David and McCoy are still going to be top players then.

I don't care either way really. If he stays we have one of the best on our team. If he goes we gets to see what Lovie/Licht do with all that extra cap space and extra 1st round pick(s), Either way it sounds good to me. I do hope that if he stays, he will restructure to a contract that includes guaranteed money and less yearly cap hit. Also, we need to make sure we keep drafting good CBs and don't get lackadaisical because we have Revis. Eventually his contract won't make sense anymore and we will be forced to let him go. You can't really afford to add any great CBs through FA when Revis is making so much...so it is important that we hit on CBs in the draft. Otherwise we will find ourselves high and dry in the secondary when the day comes that we can't afford Revis anymore.

Only in Tampa would a team with plenty of cap room want to cut one of their probowlers in order to ...create more cap room.Lol , freaking idiots.

perfect response/end thread

No it's not. Bucs have the least amount of money invested in the quarterback position and you guys are shouting "We have cap room we have cap room!". If the Bucs are ever a perennial contender Revis will be past his prime and you're going to wish we traded him and rolled over the cap room. The arguments to not trade Revis are similar to the arguments in 2009 to not trade Antonio Bryant.

Since we got so many here who want to trade Revis... Doesnt it make as much sense to trade McCoy or David who is going to cost a lot of money?Because, you know, we got so many holes everywhere else on the team and we need the draft picks. We can't be hogging great players and paying them more than the league minimum. It's too much stress on a rebuilding team and all....Just think of all those draft picks we'd have!! Then we can surely trade up and get Manziel and finally have our franchise QB!

Week 1 AgeRevis- 29McCoy- 26David- 24McCoy and David have bigger impacts. An offense can avoid a corner and still operate. You can't avoid a UT and WLB.

Hasn't JC been insisting on trading Mccoy for the last two seasons?

Unless the return is high, it makes no sense.

can you can find a reasonable poster who has mentioned low returns?

According to La Canfora, that's the level of interest. There are a few GMs who think they can pry Revis away on the cheap....like a late round pick.

according to LA canfora, the Bucs are NOT shopping Revis.

You guys do know that corners can play well into their 30s at a high level. Ronde champ Bailey arenas Williams ty law Charles woodson all played at a high level into their 30's. Especially when the corners  such as revis don't really rely on their physical abilities like others they seem to last longer. Stupid to trade one of our great players for picks that may or may not turn out. O btw how many of our fa pickups have worked out recently so to act like that has such a high success rate is wishful thinking also. It's not like were going to need to pay a qb 16 mil anytime soon and he's not stopping us from getting anyone else so why do ppl care what he's making? Esp when movie just says the success we have on d this year will hinge on how we play man coverage. Why the hell get rid of the best corner at that scheme in the nfl? Bunch of geniuses we have on this board.

Yes. He's a good player but has a terrible contract and has a bad habit of disappearing in crunch time (3rd down, 4th qtr). But I'll admit his sack production will go up in this defense.

So then what? Let go an all pro in his prime to pay the QB we don't have yet?

3 legit All Pros on our defense and this guy would be willing to trade both of them for God knows who. This is the same self proclaimed "most educated person here" that said Luke McCown would have been the next Steve Young and that Freeman is a good QB and the organization is why he failed. It's amazing.

Why would you wait out his injury and then get rid of him? Unless the return is high, it makes no sense.

Licht and Lovie didn't' wait out his injury, Schiano and Dom did.  And their employment status should tell you all you need to know about the quality of their decision making.

Their decision making got us VJax, LVD, Wright, Martin, and a few other good players.... Bad moves?

I guess some people think that good teams make zero mistakes. I wonder what it's like to be a Pats fan.
