Agree. Just thinking that with the incredible o-line adjustments in the 1st 4 games (individually & schematically), coupled with Mayfield’s scramble drills - this offense was able to produce a 6-2 record!?I don’t know how much you can grade a 2nd year Center who has been deployed to LT, and back to Center, while the right side of the o-line has been decimated.
I dont follow PFF much but how does his 2024 grade compare to now? Arent they fairly close, both being a little low?
As I recall he didn't have the best PFF grade even though the team ran wild and I think he was discussed as giving up only one sack?
I'd be inclined to wait things out until the line is more stable
It’s an accomplishment during ann injury plagued series of games that is almost unbelievable!
but honestly, the most impressive wins were Seattle and San Fran where the offense reminded me of Coen peak last year, thinking that 6-1 finish averaging like 32 points a game.
the last 2 weeks have us worried about the Patriots for Christ sakes. Offense has looked painful in the Detroit and Saints games.
Hopefully Luke can play this week and give us a boost. Also hope that Edbuka is at full strength. Not looking good for Bucky or Godwin this week.
yes, remarkable that we are 6-2 given all the injuries and looks like we escaped New Orleans without any new ones, let's hope that trend continues this week.
@jc5100 Excuses? He's in his second year, he looked decent in year one. The O-line is a shell of itself due to injuries. I'm willing to give him a bit more time before a label him a bust. Some players take time. Mauch was awful in year 1 and was much improved last year and the small sample size we had this year.
He wasn’t good last year. Neither was Bredeson.
this line has lost both of its tackles - Tristan for 4 games and Luke for 7 games. It’s had an effect on the o-line in general. Baker deserves a lot of credit for those comeback wins - but the line adjustments were pretty incredible.@jc5100 Excuses? He's in his second year, he looked decent in year one. Baker has absorbed a lot of punishment - but hopefully getting Goedeke (and Haggard) back can eventually put a stop to that - and the Baker scramble drills will be back on the menu.
The premise of picking up a big FA before the trade deadline was that the Bucs were on an "all-in" Super bowl year. I dont know that the Bucs actually thought that (even though they talked the game). They made a choice to mostly stay with the draft and that meant NOT "fixing" their ILBs and they have been sitting their best playing CB (Dean) to give developmental time to a rookie CB (Morrison). That bit them hard yesterday. Developing Morrison in-game is not win it all football, its more consistent with planning for the future loss of Dean
What a play big back breaking TD before half
Licht let this team down not going after key positions in FA.
