I think the likelihood of the Licht and Lovie taking Watkins at 7 has gone up quite a bit.I could most definitely see the Bucs moving Mike if Lovie can't get through to him.
SO THEY KNEW ABOUT ALL THIS .... and Dummynik still felt it so important to extend him to a lucrative long term deal before the start of last season ??Wow.....Worst GM ever....
Or possibly brilliant when it comes to how it was structured. I will agree Dom had some bad signings...but at least the recent ones have pretty good "out clauses" for the team.
It's not brilliant anyway you slice it . Who's to say he wouldn't go AWOL in 2015 instead of 2014....we could have traded him before , now we probably can't even trade the guy because no one will want that contract on the books.I ask again : WHY EXTEND HIM TO A LONGTERM LUCRATIVE DEAL AT ALL !!?? I don't care how it's structured, That is effing retarded !!Good freakin lord I'm glad this guy is fired. The fact that they knew about this and gave him a huge deal anyways infuriates me....
I think we can all pause for a moment and not skyway it yet... Lovie will take a turn on this possible issue.

Still don't want Watson at #7.....but if we can trade back and gain a 3rd, then maybe we use two of our top 100 picks on WRs. If we could get a 3rd for Mike Will....then that would help tremendously. This WR class is so good and so deep, this would definitely be the time to replace him if it's gonna happen. I love Mike and would hate to see him go, but If we managed to get Allen Robinson and Jarvis Landry....then I think I'd get over it rather quickly.

Silver linings bro...silver linings.
Let's face it folks. Football is a game that many of us played for fun. But let's not fool ourselves that these NFL players have to put a ton of time and effort into doing what they do. A majority of the motivation is to make it. Once they've made it, the motivation sometimes fades. It doesn't make Mike a bad person, just makes him human. Unfortunately it may also make it not a buccaneer. I'll agree it doesn't look good at best and indicates football isn't his priority any more at worst.Let's be honest though. No one should be shocked, the guy walked away from his college team as a senior.

LOL !
His contract isn't bad. He got all his guaranteed money in the first year so he can be cut with no penalties or cap hit if he screws up, and his average salary makes him the 17th highest paid WR in the league. Seems like the perfect contract for a guy that shows amazing potential, has great production, but serious character concerns.
Yea, and I would take a 3rd for him. A change of scenery might be good for him. I wonder if the new regime has Bill Belicheat on speed dial on their phones still.
How bout we see what he does with the CURRENT regime before we write him off??

I have no problem with that...but just saying I wouldnt be shocked if the new regime makes a move on him.

Agree. Don't wanna jump the gun. It's just that a lot of us have seen this coming for quite awhile and if Lovie sits down with him and can't get through to him....then I would hate to hold on too long like we did with Talib and Freeman. Make a decision while he still has good value. His contract only pays him $1.8M for the 2014 season.....so there almost certainly would be a cap strapped team with a lack of WRs that would like to have him.

We could have gotten a 3rd rounder all day.....until Dummynik screwed up with this deal that is . Now no one will want to trade for him now unless we are giving him away.

Not writing him off....just baffled we extended a guy who we knew was a train wreck in his personal life....as if 2014 was the only year he could screw us.
Lets see what lovie can get out of him first. Sounds like Williams needs to re-dedicate himself and be a lot smarter with social media, but we are starting over. The coaches are gone and so is the bad environment. He is not committing crimes or anything like that. One conversation with Lovie could do the trick. You do not want another Bennett situation on our hands.

His 2014 cap hit is peanuts so we are giving him away if we trade him.
