The question of whether the Bucs should draft Winston or Mariota first in the draft is an important one for Bucs fans and we should all weigh the pros and cons of both players in depth. But with all the hoopla in the last 24 hours started by Maycock, it is important to note that for all the bashing on both sides, these quarterbacks are both going to be first round picks and in all likelihood starters in the upcoming season. Every team gets a first round pick and for every team, their first round pick is their most important. If Mariota were picked number one in this draft, I would venture to say that every analyst out there would claim that any other team #2 pick thru the #32 pick in the first round would be foolish to pass on Winston. Would their evaluations of Winston change? NO. Why is it that an analyst has a problem with Winston's off field problems or his interceptions if he is picked at #1, but probably would not be nearly as concerned if he was picked at let's say #15? It's the same problems, just a different team. The same goes for Mariota. Mariota's problems of adapting his play style to the NFL is going to be the same no matter what team he goes to. Nobody can be sure he can develop into a pocket passer and anyone on here or on the television that says they know he can must be related to Nostradamus. At the end of the day, its all a bunch of hogwash. Maycock wouldn't be arguing that the Jets or Rams or Bears or other team in need of a quarterback not take Winston. Its all just foolishness.
