I hope everyone here enjoys a day of food, family, beers and cheap mattresses; or whatever your plans for Memorial Day include. I also hope each of us are able to find at least a moment to recognize the reason for the holiday, and to honor those who have fallen in defense of our nation.Whether you "feel the Bern" or can't wait to "build the wall", I am sure we can all agree that those who paid the ultimate price for our liberty and way of life deserve our appreciation. To anyone interested, the protocol for displaying an American flag on Memorial Day is to fly the flag at half-staff only from sun-up to noon- at which point it should be raised quickly to full-mast. For flags not mounted on a pole that can be raised or lowered; a black ribbon, ideally as wide as a stripe on the flag, can be attached at the top of the pole. All the best!
