I ask the question because this is what Licht has done. This is a no win situation for him. Regardless of what Aguayo does in the NFL it was a terrible value selection. Even if he is a multiple Pro Bowl player people will question why we gave up so much for him. The situation will be expounded if and when multiple players chosen after Aguayo turn out to be perennial Pro Bowlers. An every down player has much more value than a kicker. The worst case scenario is that Aguayo struggles in Tampa Bay, like he did in 2015 at FSU. First off lets just assume that there are going to be multiple very good players chosen from round 3 and on. What is Licht going to look like if Aguayo struggles? The fans will boo Licht and they will boo the kicker. And really, all kickers have struggles at times. The immense amount of pressure Aguayo will be under from day one does not make it any easier. It's quite the predicament for our new GM. Moving up and taking the kicker was a miscalculation. It was not good value and there is not enough upside to justify the cost. If you ask me it's not a matter of if this pick will cost Jason Licht his job but rather a matter of when it will cost him his job. When you screw up in such a major fashion, it puts everything else that you do under the microscope. I saw Licht in his day two press conference. He is usually sporting a smile and answers questions with grace, but he was visibly uptight and he kind of looked like he was already feeling the pressure of the costly mistake of trading two draft picks to draft a kicker in the 2nd round. The pressure is only going to increase from here on.
