I think McMillan can become a very good receiver for the Bucs, but that's going to take time. WRs usually hit their prime in year three and occasionally earlier. He'll get more targets of course, but you can't take a rookie and make him into a veteran just because that's what you need. And IMO Palmer won't ever become more than a #4 type of reciever. We see quarterbacks struggle because they just don't have the weapons. We at least need one more legit veteran NFL WR who is not just one step away from the streets.Roll with what we have. McMillan and Palmer get real time development in expanded roles.

Agreed but DeHop for a 5th would have actually been a perfect addition... Plus he can mentor.
A 5th is nothing.
But oh well

You know how Zyon has had pretty much a breakout year?
In your world that doesn't happen because you wanted to bring in a "washed vet" because we had a hole opposite Dean.
Remember that game a few weeks ago where Tucker won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week? The same one where Bucky played well (81 yards w/ a TD at a 5.8ypc clip)?
Yeah, in your world that doesn't happen either, because you wanted to sign Dalvin freaking Cook (who's absolutely lighting it up right now).
Your weird fixation with bringing in vets, simply because you know their name, has been truly astonishing to witness.
After being proved wrong again and again and again and again and again, you'd think you'd have learned something by now.
This isn't a title window. This isn't an all-in situation. We already have a vet WR who will be back after the bye, and another one who will get significant snaps until then (and afterwards). Time to develop our youth and not squander their opportunities by bringing in someone who may have helped you make your fantasy playoffs from back in 2013 when they were borderline relevant.
Agree, adding a WR only complicates our situation, and would force a hard decision with Godwin…and it would still be an unknown.
If we could just steal one from Atlanta this week… I actually think it’s our best shot. It certainly will break up some tendencies…
what a sad use of words...."Steal one"
we were favored before Monday night
we do have some talent in Palmer, McMillian and Shep...but clearly a huge step down. Baker has to be next level. maybe he will surprise us and continue his league leading pace.
Need a wr to step up, Ryan Williams is a guy I liked during camp just buried. 4.47, 6.7 shuttle runs thru contact tough. Best traits to be the inside yac guy
Weird fixation? I guess the Chiefs have a weird fixation too bringing in veteran help at WR, so I'll be happy to be lumped in with them. Contending teams all over the league are shoring up their weak spots. You can't do it all in-house through the draft. It's admirable that the Bucs are able to do so well translating draft picks to quality players, but you still have to make moves when the time is right - if you think you can make a run and possibly get to the Superbowl. The Bucs have to decide if they want to contend this year or slog through to another 9-8 season. We at least need one more legit veteran NFL WR who is not just one step away from the streets.

If they want to contend they need to make a move. I don't see the medical reports for players, and I don't watch their workouts. I don't know which players still have something left in the tank and which don't. I can speculate and I might be wrong. So what. But the Bucs do need to find help at ILB and WR if they want to contend. Who is the best player? How would I know? I can still speculate. I speculate the Bucs should pick up Jakobi Meyers. Do I really know if he's the best player for the Bucs? No. Of course I don't know what NFL teams know. But to think that the Bucs have it all handled in house, and they don't need to go outside to find help- That's foolish.

Chiefs are vying for a chance at NFL history.
Per usual, a horrible comparison.
What are the Bucs vying for? That's the question that needs to be answered to figure what the Bucs are going to do. There is an NFL insider who says the Bucs will be "buyers" as opposed to sellers at the deadline. That could mean that Licht is calling around looking for help.I guess the Chiefs have a weird fixation too bringing in veteran help at WR, so I'll be happy to be lumped in with them.

What I think he's looking for is someone who will still be under contract in 2025 if possible, or someone who seems amenable to possibly resigning with the Bucs. The ILB position is priority #1. The Bucs are in dire straights at that position. Licht is not selling out a good draft pick for a half year rental, on that I can agree.

i dont think the Bucs are vying for anything. They have been playing with house money post Brady. they will likely remain pat with McMillian and Palmer having to step up.

I think they understand that too.
The question is are we one player away on offense or defense or are our problems bigger than that? Usually the answer is they’re bigger. But I actually think that they are one player away on both sides.

Of course they aren’t at this point.
But, for some on here, it’s a hard concept to grasp.
But I actually think that they are one player away on both sides.
well, one plays can have a huge impact on a defense or offense, but the Bucs are more than one player away on both sides of the ball
Well, IMO the defense is solid except for Britt. Dean will be back later in the year, but Dennis won't be and Britt will always be Britt. He was never supposed to be a full time player. Find somebody who can fill that role and the defense is solid across the board. But I actually think that they are one player away on both sides.

For offense I think McMillan will be able to hold down that position pretty well, although there will be growing pains. I don't think Palmer is going to develop into much more than he is right now. He's a 4th WR who can use his speed to keep defenses honest, but not a high production player. I hope he proves me wrong. We need another starting WR. I'm not expecting Cooper Kupp, just a solid WR. The rest of the offense is solid. The O-line is playing good if not great. The RB situation is a "3 headed monster". Otton is playing well. I don't see any major holes in the offense. I am not confident that Evans will get over this hamstring issue this year if ever unfortunately. I certainly hope I'm wrong about that as well.
So I think if they could fill those two holes this team would be able to be a contender for the NFC entry into the Superbowl. Detroit is still the favorite but they already lost Hutchinson, and we did beat them already. The NFC is a mess and several teams could be in the running to be sacrificed in the Superbowl.
