we might be thinking different time frames. Maybe you mean this year. I was thinking next year.
Well, IMO the defense is solid except for Brit
They need at least a pass rusher on the end, both LBers and and a CB
Otton is playing well.
Not so sure about that. He just had a good game catching but he cant block and he's pretty pedestrian as a receiver overall. But, have we seen the last of Godwin or even Evans (effectively)
Next year Dennis will hopefully be back, but David will probably hang up the cleats. The pass rush is hindered because of the LBs. Offenses can just dump off quick passes and screens to avoid it. Thats where the linebackers would take away the effectiveness of that strategy. What we're missing is the dream of Devin White - what he was supposed to be, why we drafted him.we might be thinking different time frames. Maybe you mean this year. I was thinking next year.

I agree that we may have unfortunately seen the last of Godwin and Evans being top level receivers. Godwin will be a free agent and the Bucs have to be smart and not overpay for him. I think he'll take the money elsewhere. He's making $20 mil this year. So he's a great player and class guy and too bad he's injured, but don't feel bad for him. He's not going to the poorhouse. I'm pretty sure Evans will give it a go later this year and in 2025. He's got the new contract. But he's had that hamstring issue basically forever now, and he's gone from playing with it to not playing. I don't know that he'll ever shake that problem. That may be one contract that doesn't get earned.
But I actually think that they are one player away on both sides.
well, one plays can have a huge impact on a defense or offense, but the Bucs are more than one player away on both sides of the ball
they are clearly missing an edge impact player on the defense. You add a stud at the caliber of Winfield and Vea and we likely get back to top 10 status. Also need to fix the ILB position next year or at least make it servable.
On offense, we basically could use a stud RB. Maybe Bucky or Tucker step up this year and prove to be a top guy.
WR becomes an issue if Godwin takes a step back and if Evans doesnt bounce back. For example, is 500-600 yards his new norm?
I might differ on the trade, and I wouldn’t lean as heavily on our capabilities - but I agree with the overall optimism of your post - but only for this one game. If we do well, I could see reassessing, but there’s about 509 reasons why I won’t go there until the Bucs prove we can, and then DO something.Well, IMO the defense is solid except for Britt. Dean will be back later in the year, but Dennis won't be and Britt will always be Britt. He was never supposed to be a full time player. Find somebody who can fill that role and the defense is solid across the board. But I actually think that they are one player away on both sides.

For offense I think McMillan will be able to hold down that position pretty well, although there will be growing pains. I don't think Palmer is going to develop into much more than he is right now. He's a 4th WR who can use his speed to keep defenses honest, but not a high production player. I hope he proves me wrong. We need another starting WR. I'm not expecting Cooper Kupp, just a solid WR. The rest of the offense is solid. The O-line is playing good if not great. The RB situation is a "3 headed monster". Otton is playing well. I don't see any major holes in the offense. I am not confident that Evans will get over this hamstring issue this year if ever unfortunately. I certainly hope I'm wrong about that as well.
So I think if they could fill those two holes this team would be able to be a contender for the NFC entry into the Superbowl. Detroit is still the favorite but they already lost Hutchinson, and we did beat them already. The NFC is a mess and several teams could be in the running to be sacrificed in the Superbowl.
As I said, I may differ with you a bit on the two trades you’d like to see - they would certainly help - like others have said, I don’t see us making any additions mid-season. I think Licht & Bowels (and Coen) think they have a deep roster that needs to be tested and assessed for post season needs - but I think they want to ride this out.
All we fans can do is kvetch and wait.
Interesting thread to look back on as we threw for 105 yards against the 49ers
