Zac Robinson is more predictable than Grizzard until he proves otherwise (not likely)

Interesting with Penix. He had a long college career so his inability to grasp the offense, even if it's complex, would be concerning.

But I also am concerned with an overly complicated offense in general because it reminds me of all the crap Gruden would do only to have it be a 3 yard out route to a slow TE.

Quite a blame game - Penix v Robinson - if you read the coverage of the Falcons from last season.  Basically that the short passing game that worked so well for Mayfield in 2024 was holding back Penix from throwing deep

Bucs OC Zac Robinson tells @TKras

the Buccaneers will have a top five offense in 2026. What do you think of that?

Detroit and Dallas had top 5 offenses but worse defense than the Bucs so they missed the playoffs.

The Bears made the playoffs with a #9 offense and a defense worse than the Bucs

It’s my belief that Bowles had as much a negative effect on the offense as any coordinator or positions coach. With our weapons and presumed health, Zach Robinson will have us averaging 24+ per game.  We need to focus on corralling some top defensive FAs.  With the right off-season, we are as viable as any team out there to compete for it all.  Even with Bowles as our head coach.

No, we’re not.

Not with him at the helm.

You said the same this past offseason.

Worked out well for you?

SR also banging the table for Robinson?

FAB 4. Zac Robinson Could Be Liam Coen 2.0 For The Bucs

"The expectation with Robinson in Tampa Bay is that he can essentially be Coen version 2.0 this season. The two offensive minds share the same philosophy and brand of football that they learned from years of coaching under McVay in L.A.

In my conversations with Bowles and Coen at the NFL Annual Meeting earlier this week, I was told that Robinson knows how to effectively marry the run game and the pass game, knows how to get receivers open, and ably deploy both 11 (three receiver sets) and 12 personnel (two tight end sets), as well as the Pony package (two-back sets in 21 personnel) that Coen incorporated in his lone season with the Bucs."

If he's somewhere between Canales and Coen, we should be alright.

https://www.si.com/nfl/falcons/onsi/news/atlanta-falcons-oc-zac-robinson-defends-pistol-offense-play-calling

There's nothing inherently wrong with the pistol formation, but the Falcons are running the ball 70% of the time when lined up that way, and they're passing the ball 93% of the time when lined up in shotgun.

"We don't feel that way," Robinson responded when asked about the predictability of his offense. "I feel like sometimes when you have these types of games as coaches, you say, ‘Ok, do we need to pull back? How can we pull back to simplify and maybe we're trying to do much from a schematic standpoint.’ That's always what we're looking inward as coaches is like, ‘OK, maybe we put too much on the plate, maybe we're trying to scheme too much and we need to simplify it.’

But there is more.

The Falcons clearly use analytics when making decisions as an organization. It doesn't take a PHD in statistics to figure out 93% of the time and 70% of the time. Whether Robinson feels his play calling has been predictable or not is irrelevant.

It has been.

The good news for Robinson and the Falcons is that it's an easy fix. Chart your plays and avoid trends. I guarantee the defense is doing it against the offense.

The Atlanta Falcons have weapons all over the field, and a better run/pass balance based on formation will go a long way to improving the offense.

It took the media calling him out for him to stop being lazy and do his job.  But he is the same lazy SOB like he was in ATL.

As a long time Bucs fan two thumbs down.  100% you lost me with this hire.

Wow.

Why could Bowles not figure this out on 3rd and 28?

Definitely not a wishy washy take on Robinson lol.  You'd think it was personal!

Barton on the new offense

"A lot of similarities between him and Liam [Coen] as you guys know and even just listening to him talk today whether it is the marriage with the run and pass game and all the motions and stuff like that, so there will be similarities in that aspect but obviously it is Zac's offense," described Barton. "There will be different concepts that he wants to introduce, a different scheme, different principles and we are ready to learn and I think eagerness is a big thing this year…I would not say wide zone has been a principle of ours in the past but if that is the direction that Zac wants to take, we've got the guys and we have some pretty good athletes out there so we can definitely be able to adjust. One of the strengths of our offensive line is that we can run a bunch of different schemes and have success with them so whatever direction Zac wants to take it in, I think we have the guys and the personnel and running backs to really do it."
