Read-Option: This or That Draft Class
So, as you all can tell, I like Georgia running back Sony Michel quite a bit, and I like the idea of having him in the Buccaneers offense because I think he will give the coaching staff the chance to simplify the running back rotation and get their best guys the most touches and allow them to stay in rhythm rather than go by a deep committee. Michel can play from the shotgun, I-formation, single-back, wing, pistol; you name it, he can do it.
So, that brings up the question, which offseason scenario would you choose?
Option A:
- Sign free agent DE Ziggy Ansah from Detriot
- Draft Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame
- Draft Sony Michel, RB, Georgia
or
Option B:
- Sign Patriots RB Dion Lewis
- Draft Bradley Chubb, DE, N.C. State
- Draft Billy Price, C/OG, Ohio State
I think both of those scenarios would do the Buccaneers some good. In the first, they would sign one of, if not the, best pass rushers in free agency in Ansah from Detroit, and they get what many believe is the most sure-fire prospect in this class, Nelson, at No. 7 before getting Michel in the second round.
In the other scenario, the Bucs would sign a proven all-around running back in Lewis, draft the best pass rusher in this year’s draft, Chubb, at No. 7 and then pick up a very solid interior offensive lineman in Buckeyes captain Billy Price.
Both of these have some stretches to them, but both are ideal in their own way.
So the question then becomes, which would you choose and why?
