Glad to know some of the players were just as frustrated as the fans were.

That cant be right , I thought we ran like 14 different coverages against just Julio? But in the secondaries defense if Ayers or any other lineman could’ve snuffed the QB last year, it wouldve helped.

Our D coordinator sucked last year., No doubt, but so did this D line and Mr. Ayers.

Doesn’t matter who hit the qb cause GMC knocked down the pass. Ayers just shut up. Who is that without a job sitting on his couch at home? oh yea Ayers!

No matter what all of you think of the defensive line, or secondary, or linebackers for that matter, the defense that Smith ran last season was TERRIBLE!! The worst part is that he tried to force people into doing things that they were either no good at, or very uncomfortable doing. Like putting all the DB’s into very soft off coverage. They were all terrible at it except for Grimes. Everybody hates Hargraves now, but if we run mostly press coverage like we have done in camp so far, I think everybody will be pleasantly surprised that he is actually… Read more »

We’ll see. If the defense doesn’t perform this season there will be no more excuses for the coaching, or the GM.

Every season under Licht Bucs fans get all hyped up, declare that the “Bucs won the off season”, project division champion championships, that we’ve turned the corner … and then the following off season, we’re right back where we were the previous year. Like “Groundhog Day”.

Color me skeptical. On paper, we look good yet again. But the games aren’t played on paper.

There is absolutely no excuses this season with not having a pass rush. The players starting have previously proven they can rush the QB. If it doesn’t happen this season, then the problem is the defensive coordinator.

Buck will get these guys chasing down QBs and he strikes me as the type of coach that will “Buck” (no pun intended) against the DC for calling bland defenses as well.

Worst case Smitty blows it and gets fired, paving the way for Buck to take over.

If Smith blows it there will be a whole new coaching staff come January.

It wasn’t just Ayers who hated the defensive coaching and all the stupid D line stunting the coaches demanded. Gerald McCoy said the same thing. There is a reason we have a new D line coach this year. There is a reason the entire Bucs coaching staff is on the hot seat this year. The GM needs to be there too. There is a reason most NFL prognisticators put the Bucs down in last place in the division and another losing record this season. The prognosticators may all be wrong, and they often are … but they have very strong… Read more »
