Just Grillin sponsors PewterReport.com’s Pewter Player of the Week, which is given to Tampa Bay’s MVP as selected by the PewterReport.com staff every week following the most recent game.

After starting Thursday night’s game with an opening-drive touchdown and retaking the lead deep into the second quarter, the Bucs offense couldn’t keep pace with the Falcons’ high-octane attack in the second half. More accurately, the Bucs defense couldn’t keep up with the Falcons offense.

For a while, it was the Jameis Winston and Mike Evans show and it was exciting. The former’s only setbacks were two fumbles and the fact that he was chasing points for most of the contest, while the latter had one of the best games for a wide receiver this season.

Along with arguably the NFL’s best catch of 2016 – a one-handed grab in the third quarter, hung onto after a big hit near the sideline – Evans caught 10 other passes for 134 yards, for a final count of 11 for 150 and the Bucs first two touchdowns. Evans, Tampa Bay’s MVP to this point, did all of this without Vincent Jackson, Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Doug Martin to take some of the pressure off.

Read more about Evans and what coach Dirk Koetter said about the 23-year old’s maturation in PR’s Eric Horchy’s column from last Sunday.

For Evans’ effort last Thursday, he’s this week’s Just Grillin Pewter Player of the Week and will receive a $50 gift certificate to Just Grillin in Carrollwood. This is Evans third weekly award, with others coming after Week 2 in Arizona and Week 7 in San Francisco.
