The new league year will begin on March 17 at 4PM EST, and the NFL Draft will be held about six weeks later on April 29-May 1. NFL clubs will be able to designate franchise and transition tags to players set to be free agents on February 23rd.
That’s an especially important note for Bucs fans, as Tampa Bay will have a number of key free agents that they could use the tag on. WR Chris Godwin and LB Lavonte David headline the list, but 2020 franchise tag recipient Shaq Barrett will also be a free agent. TE Rob Gronkowski and DT Ndamukong Suh are other notable free agents for the Bucs this offseason.
