While the Bucs have their own question about if Jameis Winston will be back next season, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s future is just as unknown, and is garnering national attention.

Like Winston, the last pass Brady threw for his current team was a pick-six as the Patriots fell 20-13 to the Titans in the AFC Wildcard round. Some believe that it might be Brady’s last game with New England.

According to Sportsbetting.ag, Brady has a 9/1 chance of playing for the Bucs next season as Brady becomes free agent this year. If the Bucs choose to move on from Winston, the possibility of signing Brady could be in play.

The six-time Super Bowl champion’s odds for returning to the Patriots are 6/1 and Brady’s best odds overall are going to the Cleveland Browns at 5/1.

These are Sportsbetting’s top odds for Brady’s potential new team:

Cleveland Browns – 5/1

New England Patriots – 5/1

Las Vegas Raiders – 6/1

Dallas Cowboys – 7/1

Indianapolis Colts  – 7/1

Los Angeles Chargers – 7/1

Tampa Bay Bucs – 9/1

Denver Broncos – 12/1

Minnesota Vikings – 12/1

Chicago Bears – 16/1

New York Giants – 20/1

New York Jets – 20/1

  2. I’m looking for the future, not a patch. If Winston can limit the INTs he could be the best QB in Football for the next Decade. If that’s not gonna happen then we need to find the guy who can be the one.

  3. Tom Brady with Evans and Godwin…plus Howard and Brate (IF either are still here)-would definitely keep D coordinators up at night and give opposing defenses fits…and we would have to worry about our QB helping the other team. But if we go that route-we’d better draft a QB, one that Brady can be a mentor to.

But id rather not see that happen. While it is Tom Brady, you could definitely see the decline in his play this year, and like with Manning- there will come a time when its like he fell off a cliff as far as play goes. Id rather see us either keep Jameis than to go that route.

  6. CrackerBall stole my comment, but if by some miracle we get him, it would be a great “band aid” to permit us to draft a QB in the second and bring him along slowly. But let’s face reality. It ain’t happening.

  7. Brady can’t make the throws in this offense the way Winston can buy he also wouldn’t throw as many interceptions.

    • Which is exactly the point. Winston wasn’t able to thrive in Arian’s offense; although, because of necessity, he has learned to hit the long ball in the “no risk it no biscuit” offense. Brady has made a career of match-ups, short passes, screen plays, etc. The arm is not there to change at this point in his career. Unless BA and OC are willing to totally change their offense, Brady is not the answer. Do I think he would be intrigued to have Evans, Godwin, Perriman, Miller, Brate and OJ, you are still talking a reversal of mind set from an old school HC. Don’t see it happen regardless unless Brady wants the potential to become the NFL’s first 6k passer at the end of his career.

  8. Brady to Tampa? Why? Is there a layover on his way from Boston to Brazil?

Seriously though, Brady will be 43 at the start of next season, which happens to be three years older than Byron Leftwich. There’s simply not enough time to before osteoporosis sets in.

  11. Here’s what’s going to happen. Tom is going to tell the Pats they need offensive weapons. They will say ok and give it one last shot.

If, IF they don’t, Brady follows McDaniels wherever he goes – which very well could be Carolina IF Tom goes with him. McDaniels doesn’t go to Carolina without a QB. He’s not that dumb. He’s seen that movie before.

My gut says Brady makes demands and if not met he and McDaniels are a package deal. A playoff defense with an anemic offense and no QB would be the landing spot. Time will tell but I see one of those two outcomes.

Who knows, maybe he is more loyal to McDaniels than Bill B.

Remember that he knows Patriots are facing sanctions for cheating again. They are already facing an uphill battle next year…

  12. This story-line is really quite common. Unitas, Namath, Montana, Manning, Favre and probably a few other famed QB’s raising the curtain on that “I’m not as good as I once was, but I’m as good once as I ever was” final act. Most wanted to get their “second wind” and ended up taking their “last gasp”.

Those spoiled “Flying Elvises” fans are in disbelief that their beloved team is starting to decline. I’ve even heard a smattering of boos the past few games in Foxborro …………some probably aimed their verbal muskets at #12. Dare we hint that a revolution is brewing.

I don’t see him willing to risk his legacy by going elsewhere. Perhaps he should take some time to relax and think about his future. Maybe Robert Kraft and he could sneak down to Florida for a couples massage and plan their “happy ending”.

  13. I’d take him for a year or two and Licht was with the Patriots when Brady was there. I can’t stand Brady or Licht but Brady at 42 is still much better than Winston and if it means winning the Super Bowl I’m all for it.

  14. This was the first year in my mind the game didn’t look fun to Brady. Just like the game was no longer fun for Luck, Gronk, and throw Cam in that group. The hits add up, the money’s in the bank, father time is a kabillion to zero. Speaking of Gronk, the goof ball looks like he’s having a blast on Fox, and I enjoy watching him. Talk of Luck coming back, Gronk, Luck’s on a remote island somewhere with his new bride, a couple hundred million in the bank. You nut jobs think he’s coming back to play for Arains in this Florida heat, for what exactly? As Neil Young sang, there comes a time.

  15. Really don’t see it happening but fun to look at odds.

Winston will likely start next year under center under some short term deal or tag of some sort. The run game will be better and Arians will not have much patience if Winston keeps throwing int’s.

  16. I don’t know what Brady is thinking he’s been pretty quiet about it but he doesn’t seem like he wants to play to me. Just reading body language etc. will see I guess. I don’t doubt he could play another year or two if he wanted to.

    • Hi Bob, possibly. I wrote a detailed analysis of the QB market if the Bucs don’t move up in the draft. There are options out there – and they can go most likely in a different direction if the tape of the 16 games indicates they think Winston cannot learn.

  19. Brady is not in anyone’s future if Robert Kraft has any say in the matter. That listing came out before he made his comments today. Here they are:

    https://www.boston.com/sports/new-england-patriots/2020/01/06/robert-kraft-tom-brady-free-agent

The QB quandary is actually in New Orleans, where two good starters are both free agents – Drew Brees and Teddy Bridgewater. The big question in New Orleans is do they have the cap space to sign both and if not, who is going? The outlook from the “experts” is all over the map from Brees, to Bridgewater, to somehow signing both. I think opposing teams are going to watch this dynamic with interest and then there will be a war to sign either of one of them is let go. Some writers say Tampa would be a great place for Bridgewater to land – if that becomes a possibility.

There are 3-4 good prospects out of college all of whom will be picked before the Bucs 14th pick, so if they decide after the video tape analysis is completed they want to go in another direction from Winston (or at least have a creditable backup) they may have to look at who is truly available. That would be Brees or Bridgewater or Philip Rivers (Chargers draft high and are expected to take a QB). Only thing about Rivers is he is Winston light this past season. He played a lot like Winston with only ten less TDs and ten less INTs. Could he do better in Bruce Arian’s scheme?

While Ryan Tannenhill and Dak Prescot are also free agents they are not going anywhere. Case Keenum is another possibility but has a lower ceiling than all those mentioned previously. Same goes for Eli Manning who is in decline at this point.

  20. I think the Bucs should just franchise Winston and see how he does with a year under his belt and another off-season under Arians system. The real problem here is the offensive line. When Winston had time, he picked teams apart. But then again when you throw 50 times a game, the numbers are not in your favor with Int’s. They will come more often than someone throwing half that much.

As far as Brady goes, he’s not going anywhere. Yeah, he had a bad season when compared to his usual numbers. In saying that, NE had a lot of injuries at WR with no real pass catching TE’s on the roster. They should have made an offer for Brate back during the trade deadline rather than Howard. Brate would have helped them a lot. I’m surprised Belichick missed that. But maybe it had more to do with their salaries than anything else.

  22. Lets be clear..Brady is the GOAT. I’d luv to see him go out with the Pats in some capacity. Bring him to Tampa and he might go out with a serious injury. Don’t push it Tom. You done yours and more. GET OUT on top while the getting is good. It baffles me why.. a lot of these guys cannot walk off into the sunset as is. Instead, they hang around and end up doing more or serious bodily injury to themselves. Brady has..Nothing..absolutely Nothing..else to prove. Be smart man!
