No. 10 Oakland Raiders (6-10)

The Pick: Derwin James, S, Florida State

On the surface, this might look like an odd pick since the Raiders just drafted Karl Joseph and Obi Melifonwu, both recently. But, my reason for it is because Derwin James is more than just a safety.

I’m not sure James’ transition to play outside cornerback would be as smooth as say Minkah Fitzpatrick’s or Jalen Ramey, as some have suggested, but I do think James can play any type of strong safety, nickel cornerback and linebacker hybrid. He’s one of the draft’s freaks in terms of athleticism and he can give the Raiders defense creativity in how they fill some of their roster holes.
