No. 24 Carolina Panthers (11-5)
The Pick: James Washington, WR, Oklahoma State
This was a repeat pick from my previous mock draft, but the way this draft board fell, I still feel like it was the best pick for the Panthers.
The Panthers need something different from their wide receivers, and though I don’t really think they’ll venture too far away from that, Washington sort of give them the best of both worlds. He’s not just a deep receiver, but also a guy who can win with shorter routes, too. Quarterback Cam Newton does not have that right now outside of running back Christian McCaffrey. Washington sort of brings them the style of receiver they’ve always prioritized while giving them a little something new.
