The Pick: Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
When Broncos general manager John Elway heard that Baker Mayfield was going to the Senior Bowl, he put in a request that his team be the ones to coach him.
OK, you could make that argument that it was because of Josh Allen instead, but just go with it.
Where I do believe that Elway and the Broncos are interested in Allen, Mayfield just seems like a better fit, at this time — as he is the most “pro ready” right away, if you will. The Broncos are in somewhat of a rebuild, but it’s not a total rebuild (yet). I think Mayfield could elevate that offense and give the Broncos a quick bounce back to relevancy in a weak AFC.
