Pewter Power Rankings is a weekly feature compiled by PewterReport.com’s Fantasy Football Analyst Andrew Scavelli every Tuesday during the regular season. Each week Scavelli will rank the league’s teams from best to worst based on their performance and outlook going forward at that point of the season, with a focus on the Buccaneers.
CURRENT BUCCANEERS RANKING: 16 (-)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
As Tampa Bay was on their bye week this past Sunday not a whole lot changed for the team except for players getting healthy, but we did get to learn a little more about their Conference competition. Aside from the Rams and Saints, the rest of the NFC looks to be as wildly inconsistent as the Buccaneers. Like the Bucs, so many of those teams have vulnerabilities that can be exploited any given Sunday, which should make things interesting down the stretch.
In the NFC West, the Rams should have no challengers for that division crown and the 2-3 Seahawks look like the only team capable of competing for a Wild Card spot since they can beat up on the Cardinals and 49ers. The NFC East teams have all struggled thus far and it doesn’t appear as if there is a dominant franchise in that division. The NFC North clubs have also had their ups and downs and have shown that they’re capable of both winning and losing big. As for the NFC South, the Saints bounced back nicely after their week one loss to the Bucs but the Panthers barely held on to win against a poor Giants team and the injury-plagued defense of the Falcons has also shown that they can’t stop anyone. If the season ended today the 2-2 Bucs would have the 6th seed in the playoffs, which just goes to show how wide open the NFC is right now.
