  1. This is disappointing news. At least Lavonte can call the defenses.

  2. Damn! What about Clichy? How far is Beckwith on his recovery? Are there any line backers out there that we can sign?

  3. My heart goes out to Kwon. You can tell how much of a difference he is when he’s on the field. He loves this team and his teammates. I really hope they still re-sign him despite this injury. Kwon, Lavonte and Beckwith on the field at the same time is probably the best LB core in the NFL. Get well soon Kwon!

  4. His teammates knew this was a serious injury immediately. While trashing the second-half performance against the Browns, it is worth considering the fact that Buccaneers had lost their on-the-field play-caller and had only 5 players on defense that were expected to be starters at the beginning of the season. How easily we throw around the term “trash”–as in this player is trash, that player is trash, etc. I’ll be the first to acknowledge that this defense is way below average and we have to score at least 25 points each week to have a chance to win. “Oh, but it was only the Browns.” That’s true, the Browns don’t know how to win (either). But that defensive line of theirs is among the best we will face this year.

  6. Really sucks that he was thriving under Duffner then gets hurt..we need Beckwith more than ever. I also think Lavonte is about to pick up his game even more now.

  8. I love Kwon’s leadership and energy and he will be missed in that regard. As a player he is not particularly highly ranked on stats sites (I know some people say PFF is trash and it could have been Smith’s scheme), but he has always over pursued and given up a lot of big plays. It will be a loss emotionally for the team but they will rally for him, and if someone like Beckwith is ready to go and/or Bond can step in as Cichy’s replacement, between David, Taylor, Lynch and the guys above I still think LB is not the problem with the defense. They all played better under the simpler scheme. And will continue to do so. I think when you are the 32nd ranked defense then losing any one particular player is not a big deal but an opportunity. The Bucs will be fine until Kwon gets back. I know he is hurt and wish him a speedy recovery again but this is a nice way for me to say he is overrated.

  9. No word on Kendell Beckwith’s return. He was eligible to return last week and said he would be back sooner than you think, but no word yet. However, this from Greg Auman….
    @gregauman
    Bucs have brought LB Riley Bullough in for a physical and workout, could add him to roster after losing two LBs to injuries Sunday. Bullough was waived with injury in preseason, is healthy now.

    • That is true according to Rick Stroud/TBT. The Bucs are going to need two replacement LBs!

      @NFLSTROUD
      Bucs LBs Kwon Alexander and Jack Cichy both have a torn ACL, MRIs confirmed.

  12. I don’t like that Kwon went down with a season ending injury. The LB position is where we have the least amount of depth on this team, especially MLB. It will definitely be a step backwards defensively this season.

    However for the long term I’m not crazy about any of the LB’s on this team, particularly Kwon. He is overrated locally as a player and his leadership is often praised but where exactly has this leader led this defense? I for one am ready for new leadership on the field, not just new leadership in coaches and in the front office. I say we don’t re-sign Kwon, we find out what we have in Beckwith and move him to MLB full time next year and draft a new MLB to compete with him. Let’s not forget Beckwith was the MLB at LSU while Kwon was a SLB.

  13. This is crap news for kwon as he was playing his best game. Was it Duffner signifying things or just kwon playing up to his potential? Either way ,not good news for him. Its especially interesting as kwon turned down the bucs offer this season. Now hes really in a bind. But his play as harsh as it may sound doesnt warrant top mlb money when beckwith should be coming back.

  14. Pinkstob telling it like it is. He’s been the leader of perhaps the worst defense in the NFL the last few years, now fans are pining for him? He was having a good game finally, now fans want to pay him anyway? You guys are nuts. Thank god Licht won’t get to sign him long term, leave that decision to the new G.M..

  15. You guys are just brutal. If nothing else Kwon far exceeded our expectations of a 4th round Draft pick and has shown more fire and desire than the players who put their heads down when something bad happens. He was having a great and inspired game before going down. Just elected Captain. So now we should just sweep him off the sidewalk and into the gutter?

    “They shoot linebackers don’t they?”

  16. Food for thought. Noah Spence should be traded to a 3-4 Defensive team. He should have never been drafted to a 4-3 Defensive Team.

  17. Trevor,

    Do you think the Bucs should send a mid round pick to the Browns for Jamie Collins? Kwon will miss part of next season too. When Beckwith returns, he plays MLB with David and Collins outside. I believe we could get more out of Collins than Glanton, Minter and Bullough.

    I’d send the Browns 2019 3rd pick. Collins is essentially the Bucs 3rd round pick next year, he’s 29 and signed for two more seasons after this one.

    Draft Armani Oruwariye in round 1 and a LT in round 2(move Donovan Smith to RT).
