The teams for the Pro Bowl were announced by the NFL on Tuesday night and three Bucs players have made the 2020 roster. Wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin along with outside linebacker Shaq Barrett will represent the Bucs in the 2020 Pro Bowl on January 26th.

This is Evans’ third selection to the Pro Bowl, with his other two coming in 2016 and as an alternate in 2018. However, due to Evans’ season ending hamstring injury, the chances of the Bucs’ star receiver playing in the game are unlikely. Evans ended his season with 67 catches for 1,157 yards and eight touchdowns. It was another milestone season for Evans, who broke the Bucs’ franchise reception record with 462 career catches, and joined Hall Of Famer Randy Moss as the only two wide receivers in history to have six-straight seasons to being their NFL career with over 1,000 receiving yards.

Godwin had a breakout season in the third year of his career on the way to his first career Pro Bowl selection, accomplishing careers bests in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. Godwin left the game in the third quarter of the Bucs’ 38-17 victory over the Lions last Sunday with a hamstring injury, and his status for the rest of the season is unknown. If Godwin’s season is over, he will finish the year with 86 receptions for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns, which are most on the team. Godwin’s receiving yards and touchdowns are both second best in the NFL though 15 weeks.

Barrett will also make the first Pro Bowl of his NFL career. Signing a one-year prove it deal with the Bucs last offseason after four years on the Broncos, Barrett has taken advantage of getting his first opportunity to be a starter and took the league by storm with a league best 16.5 sacks. On the entire year, Barrett has gone for 49 tackles, 16.5 sacks, 16 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles, and one interception while earning Defensive Player Of The Month honors in September. Barrett’s 16.5 sacks tied a Bucs’ single season sack record held by Warren Sapp from the 2000 season. Barrett will have two games left with a chance to break the record.

Why the skepticism about Evans and Godwin being able to play in the game? 6-7 weeks should be plenty of healing time considering it’s just pulls, neither has been IR’d, and the Pro Bowl isn’t a heavy impact game.

We don’t know the extent of Evans’ injury, or Godwin’s, at this point. As much as I’d like to see both receivers play in the PB together, I’d like Mike to not risk further injuring that hamstring. Same thing for Chris if his injury is anywhere near as severe as no. 13’s.

Awesome to see your top two wide receivers get selected and Shaq was obvious the way he’s dominated this year. Will someone please pull a hammy so Lavonte David gets a pro bowl nod??!! This dude gets snubbed every damn year. It’s another reason this small market team needs to start winning games. So guys like this don’t go unnoticed anymore! Congrats to the Bucs players!

That’s awesome news! These guys have worked hard at their craft this year and all three have had great seasons! Just wondering… since r starting WRs made the Pro Bowl, could this be the year that Jameis makes it too as an alternate like he did a couple of seasons ago? Could happen… his stats… outside of the INTs r really amazing this year! Go Bucs!

So happy for them, but I am SHOCKED that Godwin made it! So happy he did cause I was worried he would be snubbed this year since he is just now getting recognized in the league. Great job to everyone who voted him in.

Stat-for-stat David is a better ILB than Bobby Wagner except for total tackles. Damn shame he gets overlooked.

Pro Bowl is stupid anyways.

Fantastic News. Hopefully there will be additional post season awards, for a rookie or two.

Happy for all three of these Bucanners, earned and well deserved!!!!

Regret that LaVonte still doesn’t get the recognition that reflects his performance. He is consistently one of the best LB’s in the NFL.

Congrats to the 3 Bucs selected!!! Well deserved!!!

I hate how Pro Bowl voting is though, Lavonte David has to be the most underrated and underappreciated LB in NFL history.

Kudos to those selected. Now how about finishing 8-8 like I predicted at the beginning of the season.
