Ogbonnia Okoronkwo | North | 3-4 DE | Oklahoma
If the Bucs aren’t sold on Davenport at No.7, and if he goes before the draft comes around to their pick in the second round, a player of similar potential impact at the Senior Bowl could be Oklahoma’s Ogbonnia Okoronkwo.
Okoronkwo has the stats. He notched 20 sacks and 33 tackles for loss in his Sooners career, most of which came in just two season – his final two. What he doesn’t have is the ideal fame. At just 6-foot-1, 240 pounds, Okoronkwo is a short edge pass rusher, but he certainly builds his game around that to a lot of success.
Okoronkwo is a true speed rusher who works best as a 3-4 outside linebacker, collapsing the pocket from a stand-up position. His frame will limit how high he goes, but as a 3rd down rusher, he could have a very nice impact in the NFL early on.
