What’s Cooking? is a PRTV segment featuring PewterReport.com vice president of editorial content Mark Cook. This show is taped on Thursdays at the AdventHealth Training Center and will have Cook grill a different Buccaneers player each week in the hard-hitting, no-nonsense style that only he can provide.

On this week’s menu, Cook dishes out questions to O.J. Howard, competes against the second-year tight end in the “OJ challenge” and serves up his thoughts on the most important topics surrounding the Alabama product.

  2. I really don’t understand the point of these, they do nothing but Mark and PewterReport look really bush league.

People walking in front of the camera when they’re in the hallway, carts driving by outside making it hard to hear you guys, and Mark’s sense of humor that can be both self-deprecating and at times a little awkwardly aggressive (the whole calling players the wrong name thing, the Ryan Griffin interview being the worst offense), all adds up to an awkward interview that’s a real drop off in quality from your regular stuff.

I like Mark Cook a lot but he’s not the guy to give the “daytime talk show interview” segment to. The idea of a loose and casual interview is a good one, but if Mark’s the guy it’s gotta have more of a man-cave feel. Just get him in there talking about football with these guys cause when he’s comfortable he clearly puts them at ease, but when he’s doing some structured cute question spiel, it’s just not his thing and uis awkwardness spreads to them and they usually look like their second guessing their decision to be there.

Casey Phillips is doing a good job with the whole cute funny interview thing. I think What’s Cooking could switch to more of a football discussion where Mark asks them about their Alma Maters and they riff on that for a while, or he could do some light X and O talk like you’d hear between 2 fans having a beer. Or scratch the whole cutest interview thing entirely and let Mark give us a visual version of his Monday Mailbag.

Obviously, this is just my opinion. Love all the work that all of you do. Outside of Buccaneers.com you guys are without a doubt the most established, well-connected and professional source of Bucs coverage.

  3. Thanks for the feedback. The premise of these was late in the week, prior to the game, a lot of people are tired of the analysis and we wanted to do something lighthearted. It works for some, maybe not for others. Thanks again for your criticism. And for reading PewterReport.com.

    • Hope you didn’t take any of it personally Mark even though it’s obviously all about you. More of the segment itself that I didn’t have a taste for. Love you guys
