On a segment during “Good Morning Football” on the NFL network, analyst Kyle Brandt selected the Bucs to be the team that can turn it around and go from worst to first next season.

Among the reasons why Brandt believes that the Bucs are the best candidate to go from the bottom of the barrel to the top of the standings comes from new coach Bruce Arian’s history of producing a quick change to a franchise. Brandt recalls how Arians took a 5-11 Cardinals team to a 10-6 record after his first year of coaching them.

He also credits Arians with helping shape the careers of Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger, and thinks Jameis Winston will benefit the same way from Arian’s coaching.

Arianspamphletimg 7913The Bucs of course are coming off back to back 5-11 seasons, putting Arians in a similar situation as to when he started with the Cardinals in 2013. Only this time, he takes over a more talented roster, which Arians himself said in his opening press conference here. Brandt went as far as to say the Bucs are “crazy talented.”

Over the past 15 seasons the Bucs have only won the NFC South two times, coming in 2005 and 2007. With that said, in that same time frame a team has only repeated as division champion in back to back seasons only three times, coming from two different teams. The Panthers accomplished this twice by winning three straight championships from 2013-2015, and the Saints have recently done it over the last two seasons in 2017 and 2018.

It’s been over a decade since the Bucs can say that they are division champions. Given the history of both the division and Bruce Arians, if there was ever a time for the team’s fortune to change, it would be now.
