The list of visits the Bucs have hosted have been a who’s who of mainly first round talent.

But, Bucs general manager Jason Licht and his staff are also looking to find the diamonds in the rough.

A player that caught Licht’s eye in Tallahassee a couple week’s ago at the FSU pro day is one that even most diehard Seminoles couldn’t tell you a lot about, and that is because he was seldom used. But, like former Nole Javien Elliot, who currently resides on the Tampa Bay roster, seldom used doesn’t mean he can’t be a productive player at the next level.

The Bucs want to get to know running back Ryan Green more after being impressed while in Tallahassee to see the likes of Derwin James, Josh Sweat and a number of other more well-known Seminoles. The team have set up a meeting with Green at One Buc Place next week, per source.

Green, a local product who played his high school football in St. Pete for St. Pete Catholic, was a four-star prospect but was buried on a depth chart at FSU that carried the names of Dalvin Cook, Jaques Patrick and Cam Akers. Finding playing time wasn’t easy and despite being recruited by Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State and USC, Green was an outstanding teammate who understood his given role in Tallahassee and embraced it, even if he wanted to see more action.

Green finished his FSU career with 30 carries for 326 yards and three touchdowns.

NFL teams get 30 official in-house visits with college draft prospects, but due to the fact Green is a local product, he won’t count as one of the 30 meetings.
