The announcement comes following a slew of hamstring injuries, just one day after Tampa Bay placed rookie pass-catcher Scotty Miller on the injured reserve. Evans suffered a hamstring injury against the Colts, forcing him to miss Tampa Bay’s Week 15 matchup against Detroit, while Whitehead, Miller and receiver Chris Godwin all left the contest with hamstring injuries of their own.
While three of the four injured Bucs have now officially been shut down for the season, Godwin remains on the 53-man roster for the time being.
Darian Stewart will likely fill the starting safety role in Whitehead’s absence while the Bucs have already began adding pieces to their receiving corps, promoting Ishmael Hyman to the active roster while signing Spencer Schnell and Cyril Grayson.
