With injuries to wide receivers Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Scotty Miller, it was assumed the Bucs were going to bring on an extra receiver this week for their game against the Houston Texans.
According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the team is planning on signing former training camp wide receiver Spencer Schnell to help with their depth.
#GoBucs plan to sign Spencer Schnell, the undrafted free agent from Illinois State who spent the preseason with Tampa Bay. He worked out last week for the Bucs.

Schnell is an undrafted rookie out of Illinois State who spent this past preseason with the Buccaneers. In the first game of the preseason with Tampa Bay, Schnell caught seven of nine targets for 119 yards. He also saw some work on special teams throughout camp.
Spencer Schnell does a nice job of making room for himself and catching the TD. Throw was by Ryan Griffin. pic.twitter.com/uK2bSmArYU

Nice, he showed promise, but there was just too much competition in front of him.
Schnelly with an extended try out the last two games. Seems promising.
Surprised they didn’t go back after the Bo Bo who is on the Panthers practice squad.
Glad they didn’t. Says a lot that they passed on him in favor of others after he’s had multiple seasons with the team.
I think it was probably they already know BoBo and what he can do versus let’s see what this kid can do in a regular season game.
Went to quite a few Training Camp practices and this guy impressed. Kind of an old Redskins “smurf” type.
“Schnell” means “Quick” or “Fast” in German. Hopefully Deckerhoff will be speaking a lot of German the next 2 weeks.
