The 2022 NFL Draft is just over a week away, and the Bucs are narrowing down their board for the No, 27th pick. That process has included Top 30 pre-draft meetings with Georgia DT Devonte Wyatt and Houston DT Logan Hall. But if Tampa Bay misses out on those players, the team may have a fallback option. According to ESPN’s Jenna Laine, the Bucs also met with Oklahoma defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey on a Top 30 visit.
In addition to Georgia’s Devonte Wyatt and Houston’s Logan Hall, the Bucs hosted Oklahoma defensive tackle and Senior Bowl MVP Perrion Winfrey on a top-30 visit, per source. The Bucs have a need here without Ndamukong Suh.

Winfrey’s stock started to rise at the Senior Bowl, where he looked significantly better than he did on tape. There is no denying Winfrey’s explosiveness and violent hands, but he needs a lot of refinement to his play. The senior’s playing style is erratic and lacks discipline. Winfrey’s physical tools are outstanding at 6-4, 290 pounds with over 35-inch arms. But he’s stiff and has to become more detailed with his pass rush plan. In 12 games, Winfrey posted 11 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks last season.
Right now, the Bucs are short at least two defensive tackles on the roster. Vita Vea, Will Gholston and Rakeem Nunez-Roches are all under contract, as is special teamer Pat O’Connor. But veterans Ndamukong Suh and Steve McLendon are both still free agents who want to return to Tampa Bay. Will the Bucs make it happen? It probably depends on how the draft unfolds at the position. But even if they select one defensive tackle, I would expect Suh to eventually return to the roster.
