Bucs running back Sean Tucker made the most of his opportunity last Sunday when the Bucs defeated the Saints, 51-27. In his second NFL season, it was the most he had played in a regular season game. After that was over, he can also say he’s won a weekly national award.
It was announced on Wednesday that Sean Tucker had won NFC Offensive Player Of The Week for Week 6. Tucker was fantastic running the football and helping out as a receiver as well.
He rushed 14 times for a career-high 136 yards and a rushing touchdown while also making three catches for 56 yards and a receiving touchdown. With his longest rush and reception each coming at 36 yards, Tucker continued to make splash play after splash play.

How Will The Bucs’ RB Room Look Moving Forward?

The Bucs particularly dominated the ground game with Sean Tucker and Bucky Irving against the Saints in the fourth quarter. Tucker had 10 rushing attempts that went for 107 yards and a touchdown with a average of 10.7 yards per attempt in that quarter.
He was given this chance with Rachaad White out for the game due to a foot injury, but the Bucs didn’t lose a step with Tucker serving as the backup behind Irving.
Dubbed the “Buck And Tuck” show, it’ll be hard not to give more playing time to Tucker when White returns. That’s not to say that the Bucs can’t have a three-headed monster with each back having an important role.
“It’s definitely worthy of him making it a three-headed monster,” Todd Bowles said of Tucker and Tampa Bay’s running back room. “He took advantage of his opportunities. He ran away from some tackles, some linebackers, he ran through the hole, he cut back, he made plays, he caught the ball well out of the back field so that gives us a three-headed monster.”

With 4.33 speed, Tucker is the fastest running back that the Bucs have. What he showed on Sunday was that his vision and tackle breaking ability is on point, too.
Tampa Bay puts a big emphasis on pass blocking, and that was an area Tucker needed to work at in order to play more. But a 192-yard performance means he needs to be playing regardless.
The Bucs host a Ravens team on Monday night football that has the best run stopping defense in the league. It’s a great challenge for Tampa Bay as the team has seemingly figured out its run game. We’ll see if White is available, but the Bucs have a good thing going with Tucker and Irving if they need to pick up the slack again.
